I like to keep it simple. I like video baseball games that are easy to play. Reggie Jackson baseball is all of that. Created for the Sega Master System, this isn't like some video games where it's nearly impossible to get a hit, thus limiting the action and causing great frustration. (Tommy Lasorda Baseball comes to mind) The graphics lag far behind what's out there now, and the music has a 90's midi sound to it, but all the basics are there, from stealing bases, to running a squeeze play. As you play, your pitchers get tired and their pitches slow down, so you have to go to the bullpen. Catching a fly ball is quite an adventure, as you can't even see your outfielder until the ball reaches his area, so you can just let the computer control the fielders if you wish. My wife, on one of her cleaning binges, tossed out my first copy of this game, but I enjoyed playing it so much, that I tracked down another copy and had to pick up another Genesis Power Base Converter (she tossed this out too!) so I could plug it into my Genesis unit.Read full review
After playing alot of eight bit sport games, I have to say that Reggie Jackson Baseball stands at the top. I have not played every 8 bit baseball game, but his game is a classic. It is a port from the Sega Master System game, American Baseball. If you all ready have that game it is the same, with one exception, Reggie Jackson image is in this one to boost sales in the American market. The game does have a re-released version where the cart has a blue label. This is a little harder to find. The music, sound, graphics and game play are good. One down fall is when you choose to manually control your players on the field before they field the ball. I alway choose automatic because it is nearly impossible to tell when the ball will fall when you choose the manually control option. Besides that, good game. Thanks, Master KanaarRead full review
