About this product

Product Information

Instantly recognizable, due in part to the unique visual style of TRIGUN's Yasuhiro Naito, Gungrave casts players as Grave, an enigmatic, double-gun wielding anti-hero forged in much the same spirit as Todd McFarlane's Spawn character. Bent on the destruction of an evil criminal organization, Grave must traverse six unique environments, utilizing the dual handguns and coffin he possesses to literally destroy anything and everything in his path while doing so. At its most basic level, the gameplay in this third-person action title encourages players to destroy the various enemies along with the environments themselves. Uninterrupted carnage steadily increases the "Beat" meter, allowing players to achieve extended combos through carefully planned attacks. Higher scores and extra abilities are awarded for exemplary play.

Complementing Grave's Cerberus guns is a giant coffin that he can wield as both a melee and projectile weapon. In close combat Grave swings the coffin in a 360-degree arc around himself, inflicting significant damage to anything caught in its path. The coffin can also fire a "Demolition Shot." Initially, only one shot is unlocked, with others earned by collecting skulls throughout the game (the higher the ranking, the more skulls earned). Acting as a smart bomb of sorts, a Demolition Shot can be used to eradicate entire enemy hordes, with rockets or copious rounds of gunfire. The aforementioned Beat combos, in addition to increasing the stage score, gradually fill an onscreen meter that rewards players with additional Demolition Shots. A maximum stockpile of nine Shots is allowed per stage. At the conclusion of each level, players are ranked according to their performances in categories such as Beat Count, Enemies Killed, Life Remaining, and so forth.

When engaged in combat, Grave doesn't immediately lose health. Instead, attacks are absorbed by a shield that constantly replenishes itself when not under fire, with the catch being that players have to interrupt a combo in order to seek out safe cover first. More routine maneuvers include the ability to run, dive sideways, perform 180-degree quick-turns, and to lock onto and strafe around enemy characters. Cel-shaded cut-scenes highlight Grave's predicament and his interactions with the other characters. Adjustable difficulty settings provide additional replay incentive, as do hidden extras, such as a 3D model gallery mode that allows players to view various character models.

Beautiful Sailor Jupiter, the box and the figure arrived in perfect condition and very well protected, 100% original. The only recommendation I would make is to specify in the product title whether it is "Version A" or "Version B" of the figure. Given this doubt, I contacted the seller to ask what version it was and they confirmed that it was "Version A". I received a very quick and friendly response, so I was able to proceed with my purchase without hesitation. Totally recommended.

    An Arcade Attempt at DMC

The gameplay is very much designed to be played on an arcade cabinet. Seems this should have been a Dreamcast game. Stick to DMC for slick duel wielding gunplay.

  • A spectacular game indeed...

Having played this game in the past. It wasn't anything new to me. I hadn't played it in a while and thought it would be a good game to buy. I'm just glad eBay had it. The one thing I dislike is the fact that there aren't to many cheats unless you play your way through the game on the hardest difficulty it has. This, I can do, because my moral is, beat it once, beat it twice, then you can cheat. The controls are easy, the story is wonderfully suspenseful and the artistic shooting that Brandon/Grave executes is superior to none. A great game to own indeed. If you are interested in buying this game, I would look up some in-game trailers or theatric trailers for it so you can see what I mean.

  • Vengence never truely stays dead

After several years of rest in the abyss, you awakened by the offspring of the woman you loved and leader of an organization you have sworn to protect. Except now the organization is run by the one man who was your best friend at one time, your murderer later, and now he is hunting down that last shred of the past you care about. The only option left, well time to show that not even death can stop your vengence. Let them know why you're Beyond The Grave. I picked this game up before and found it to be a classic, though it never made headlines and flew under the chart (but then again there was Halo and such already dominating the gaming world) it is a solid game. Special overkill abilities, awesome cutscenes, and gameplay that encouraged you to kick some ass. This is a must have for ...

  • Brandon Heat!!!

all i have to say about gungrave is that its amazing!, this game is a classic i first played years ago back in 2003, such an amazing game, so good that an anime was made after it, if you ever have a chance to watch it you should, its such a great story, i know people think that anime is for nerds and geeks, i mean i was the same way, but when i first saw a really good anime series it totally changed my mind, in japan anime is a tradition they take their animation serious. gungrave is still one of my favorite animes of all time, you can check it out for free online in english subbed or english dubbed. http://revolution-anime.net/index.php?/Gungrave-dub/

  • Another work of artistry on the PS2 that is getting hard to find complete.

This action shoot'em up is stylish and fun. Gungrave plays very much like a slick Anime'. If you are a fan of anime and enjoy the cell shaded graphics that work perfectly with the Playstaion 2 then you will enjoy this game. I love the story, the color, and the care that was put into this game. The animation sequences throughout work perfectly in keeping you engaged and anxious to get to the next awesome boss battle. To me Gungrave is another work of art on the PS2 that can never be duplicated. If you get the chance to add Gungrave to your collection, grab it. This game, and others like it are quickly getting harder and harder to find in complete condition. Gungrave is well worth the investment because if you're like me, and recognize the artistry of so many games in the PS2 ...
