About this product

Product Information

Sharpshooter and star of Colonel Buffalo Bill's Show, Frank Butler (Howard Keel) falls for the spirited Annie Oakley (Betty Hutton) until she provokes him into a clay pigeon shooting competition. Unfortunately, Annie is left to realize a man isn't always interested in a woman who can beat him at his own game. The film is based on Irving Berlin's play and contains the songs "Anything You Can Do," "Doin' What Comes Naturally," and "There's No Business Like Show Business." Winner of the 1951 Academy Award for Best Music and Scoring of a Musical Picture. It should be noted that Judy Garland was originally cast to star in ANNIE GET YOUR GUN, but fell ill and was replaced by Betty Hutton.

  • Annie Get Your Gun

I love the music and singing. I actually got more interested in Betty Hutton. I think she is the best Annie Oakley I have ever seen portrayed. I like the costumes and especially the shooting scene where Annie come in for her act and is standing on the back of a horse shooting at targets. The bad part I don't like in this story is Annie on purpose not shooting well in a shooting match with Frank Butler. Because she wants to marry Frank Butler. And knowing she is the best shot. I think this sends a terrible message to girls.

  • Annie Get Your Gun VHS

A great musical that I had not seen since my college days, over 40 year ago. The movie wasn't as intense as the stage play I had seen but it was still very good. I purchased a NEW VHS tape (still in cellophane). The coloring seemed a bit old and sometimes slightly washed-out. All in all it was a very satisfying purchase, the video goes into my library of classic/musicals and I will watch it again and again.

  • Annie Get Your Gun

I bought this video because the community theater is doing a production of this play in the fall and my daughter is thinking of auditioning for a part. It was good. I thought the clips of Judy Garland in the part of Annie were interesting.

  • We love this musical!!

We love musicals and this one is exceptional in that it gives me the feeling of being in the theater. There is a strong sence of the actors playing off each other and hamming it up. It is a movie that leaves me smiling long after it is over.
