As eccentric as he was brilliant , Thelonious Sphere Monk was , and remains a deep well of inspiration . The compositions have a childlike sophistication that is just plain fun to listen to. This Jazz documentary feels close to being a motion picture , considering its a collection of most of the available footage of Monk . Producers Bruce Ricker and Charlotte Zwerin along with executive producer Clint Eastwood must have cared deeply about this project , and it shows !
Love Thelonious Monk. Case foe DVD a little worn, But It's Still Okay!

This a wonderful story about a jazz giant that is sometimes sad, sometimes warm, and sometimes incredible. Monk was a genius with issues! His music genre is timeless. His delivery was sometimes great (even with flaws). Any jazz afficiando will love this film.
Clinet Eastwood financed a documentary that includes lots of great footage of one of jazz's most incredible composers and players. There is much footage of his music and enough footage of him in his element (at home, traveling, etc.) that you could get a feel for what the man was really like.
