    AMD RULES!!!

Bought this for my HP Pavilion a1210n retro gamer and WHOA MAMA what a difference i added this along with 4gigs of Ram and its a WHOLE new comp bought i removed it and re-installed the factory single core Athlon 64 because the factory MB didn't quite agree with this little beaut, so I'm gonna buy a Asus SLI socket 939 MB and install this and my 2 EVGA GTX950's and my EVGA 750 watt PSU and game like crazy to my oldie but goodie games!

    Supposedly a Good CPU... but...

Supposedly a Good CPU... I would not know as the one I Purchased actually Fried my Motherboard!! Got a quick refund, but now I have to Buy Another Motherboard, as well as a CPU, and possibly Memory sticks as well. Be Careful when buying a "Used CPU"... Everyone seems to say things like "Pulled from a Working PC". (well if it was "working" then why did you pull it?) Plus... One never knows what happened to it After it was pulled from that "Working PC". Like... Was it Never Touched by Human Hands? Only handled by hands wearing Rubber Gloves? Static Electricity can Kill a CPU, and a Bad CPU can Kill your Motherboard. Be Very Careful, or you will get Screwed like I did... As now, I have to shell out over $100.00, to get a working PC, instead of $20.00 for a CPU upgrade.

  • Best "cheap" dual core socket 939 processor

I know that the Amd Athlon 64 x2 has been updated/upgraded a lot, but for those that have a socket 939 motherboard (for which AMD no longer makes cpu's), this processor is one of the best for not very much. Once you get above the 4200+, the price gets pretty unreasonable and its definitely better to go through the hassle of buying a new motherboard, great cpu, and reinstalling/buying windows or other os. That being said, 2 GHz is not that fast for this mid-range processor (I know its dual core, but each processor is weak when compared to its closest cousins). But of course, you could try overclocking (remember, all these processors are USED and have already had years of wear and tear). Then again, AMD processors are beasts when it comes to overclocking. Overall, if you really don't want ...

part was easy to install as long as you do it right this is a great way to upgrade your single core processor to get a little more life from an aging rig

  • Poorly tested but product was functional and cheap!

The processor was in working order, however the thermal paste between the processor and the heatsink (the flat one permanently mounted by AMD) was no good. The processor would get extremely hot after just a minute or 2 of high CPU usage (according to CPU-Z) and would eventually shut itself down. I'd seen this issue before so I was able to carefully remove the AMD mounted heatsink and mount the 3rd party heatsink directly on the CPU (similar to the old AMD XP processor installation). Although this pretty much voided any type of warranty I would have had, it did solve the overheating problem. Long story short, the cheap price was awesome, however it was not properly tested. The testing procedures obviously just checked for boot up. I would highly recommend using CPU Burn-In or Prime95 ...
