  • Works well and keeps an old PC going a bit longer.

This is the highest spec CPU that my old ECS K7VMM+ motherboard can take. Apart from the heat generated off this, its a good way of keeping an old PC going a bit longer. Do not confuse this with some of the other AMD XP 2600+ chips that may run on a different FSB and may not be compatible with the motherboard. I recommend checking out your motherboard on the manufacturers site or other online sources of cpu compatibility and get the exact compatible part number before bidding. If you are upgrading to this from a slower CPU, make sure that your CPU cooler can keep this one cool as it gets very hot. This was the second of these CPU's that I bid for on eBay. The first one was DOA. One point to note when buying these is that they may have been overclocked. As such their life may have been ...

  • Great upgrade for aging PCs

I bought a "packaged" PC a number of years ago. It originally came with a AMD Athlon XP 1700. It gave years of great service. Problem is tha most new games want 2.0 Ghz speed now. Based on my motherboard, this was the highest (2600) I could go. I was able to breath some life into my PC for another couple of years. One word of advice. AMD chips in this range can have multiple board speeds, also know as Front side bus (FSB). Do your homework and make sure you check this out or the chip will not work. In my case I had the slower (133 Mhz). This same 2600 CPU comes in a 300 Mhz. The only way you will know this is thru the AXDA... string. Go on your motherboards site, and AMDs site and match it all up. As always be careful of static. Take the proper precautions and it will be an easy swap. ...

  • Well worth the minimal cost to breathe new life into an aging system.

Bought this processor to speed up an old system with a 1.5 GHz processor. Dropped in the new processor, dabbed on the included thermal compound, installed the heat sink/fan and was off and running at 2.13 GHz. My system is faster and has been stable since the upgrade.

  • Great update for older systems

This brought new life into an old computer. Just by replacing the original processor with this one more than doubled the speed. No other changes required. When the system was built CPU's were several hundred dollars each so while the motherboard could handle a faster CPU I couldn't afford it. This was really an experiment to see what I could get out of the old system.

  • AMD Athlon XP 2600+ 2.13 GHz Processor AXDA2600DKV3C

The cpu worked great. I upgraded from 1300 duron. I already had a heatsink. The machine is much faster now.
