As an avid P&P fan, I am always excited to find a book about Darcy & Elizabeth. I have to say, though, this one was a bit disappointing. There was more just descriptive filler about the Bennett/De Bourgh family dynamic than about Mr. and Mrs. Darcy. And the times that the book focuses on them, it is mostly negative. When I read about the two most beloved characters in fiction (for a love story, that is) I want some drama, but not a seperation and a rift that only is repaired in the last 5 pages of the story! Besides that, it feels short and predictable. Overall, not too impressed.
A really delightful followup to Pride and Prejudice. Ms. Tennant keeps the story going in the same prose and style as Jane Austin. Too bad the story does not continue farther. It involves the same strong characters as in Ms Austin's original story and follows along just as these characters would have reacted given the times in which they lived. Overall a very enjoyable read.
