I am very happy with it. I searched for good books for my grandchildren and found the Thomas B. Fordham Institute for Advancing Educational Excellence. They have a list of the 100 best books for children to experience prior to entering kindergarten. This book was one of them. Make Way for Ducklings is another from the same author. Read, read, read to your grandchildren - even over Skype!!!

This book I read around 3rd or 4rth grade (*I'm 30 now) and it stuck with me all those years because it's a very cute story and it's super engaging. The pictures make you feel like you're there and the storyline is clever. I wish I lived in those times where everything is much more simple than now. This book helps you imagine that I guess. I just went blueberry picking with my daughter around the time I got this book and she picked from my bucket and ate them just like the story! She never read the story (I got it like 4 days later for her) and so I almost started crying! I never thought I'd have a little 'sal' :) blueberry picking with me in the state of Washington. I was always in California up until now and I never seen blueberries outside of the grocery store up until now. So this book came true for me and that's something I'll always remember and treasure :)Read full review
The book is a children's classic. I bought this for my granddaughter after hearing about it from a librarian. The story line contains an old fashioned tale of a mother and daughter picking blueberries on the mountain, and the alternate story of a mother bear and her daughter picking blueberries on the same mountain, and their chance encounter together. My granddaughter will LOVE it because she and her family go blue berry picking, and they see bears. Can't wait to gift this book. Older illustrations, timeless little adventure!

The book is a favorite of my daughter in law, so I purchased a copy for her first born son. As grandma, I also enjoy reading it to him. It's a delightful story, and Sal is a girl.

"Blueberries for Sal" is a classic book that tells a gentle and engaging story. Funny noise words such as Kuplink, kuplank and kuplunk add to the attraction of this great read-aloud book. A little girl named Sal and a little bear have a bit of an adventure when the little bear follows little Sal's mother and little Sal follows the little bear's mother on a blueberries-picking trip. Preschoolers, kindergarteners and beginning readers will enjoy this Caldecott honor book by Robert McCloskey. "Blueberries for Sal" is one of the best picture books for children.
