I am a podcaster and do a lot of in-studio recording projects. A lot of the marketing materials, documentation, and even reviews for this mixer have been from the lens of those who do live gigs, so I thought I would present my perspective as someone who does not need this for live band performances. I was in the market for a replacement of my Behringer XENYX 1622USB mixer. That mixer served me well for many years but recently started to malfunction on a number of levels, including the onboard FX and more importantly the amount of noise/hum I would get from many channels. I heard that Mackie mixers are incredibly quiet so I decided to give them a try. I initially settled on the ProFX12V2 as it appeared that model would be the equivalent in the Mackie line to what I had with my Behringer. However, after setting it up it became apparent that my configuration would be better served by the next level up in this line - the 4 bus, 16-channel mixer. This mixer is likely sufficient for most podcasters. Overall though, I like the Mackie line and the quality of the signal has been superior to the Behringer mixer I had.Read full review

I do sound for a local theater company. The mixer we had in there was becoming intermittent, and I replaced it with this Mackie product in the middle of the run of a show. I've used Mackie mixers in the studio, in live sound, for band rehearsals, doing surround mixes for theater shows (now), and I have to say, these things just work. This mixer was a seamless replacement and I noticed more clarity and a much lower noise floor as soon as I powered it up. I'm going to enjoy using this one for years to come. Update 4/10/18: We've used the mixer now for a theatrical drama and for a live music show with 4 bands. This mixer has proven to be ultra-quiet in our sound system, compared to the board we replaced. The sound is punchy, but there's lots of headroom yet available. I am very happy with this purchase.Read full review

I have minimal experience with sound and live music, and this was pretty straight forward. Pretty neat fader slider switches.

Excellent mixer, provides great quality and many routing options. Just note that there are no instrument level inputs on this mixer, only XLR mic-level plus 1/4” line ins.
