About this product

Product Information

Slapstick kingpin John Hughes translates the classic animated children's tale into a campy live-action slugfest. The fur-loving, sadistic Cruella De Vil (Close, at her most outrageous) pants after the pelts of the titular puppies, hoping to sew them into a fabulous coat, but the dogs outsmart her and her bumbling henchmen.

Received quickly and packaged very securely. The item could be described as "new old stock" as it is apparent it was never used or displayed. Very happy with my purchase from this top-notch seller!

One of the Rare Successful Live Action Disney Remakes

Disney may be on a roll remaking some of their animated hits. However, they were doing it with 101 Dalmatians. And it actually works. The humor is funny. Multiple animals help Pongo and Perdita and their puppies escape and defeat Cruella. The original last name of Roger is restored. Anita is given a job unlike in the original film. And she is no doormat like in the original film as Cruella (who isn't the main character and isn't in too many scenes) soon learns. Relationships between characters are built which explains certain things. And those are just some of the rules this film abides by which is more than can be said for the designated "sequel".

  • A wonderful and creative update on a classic storyline!

Before watching this film I was worried- How could Disney possibly take this classic storyline and turn it into a live action movie that would appeal to children AND adults WITHOUT COMPLETELY BUTCHERING IT? Not to worry- the way they have converted and updated this film is truly impressive. In fact, it is just as impressive as the cast of characters, that includes Glenn Close, as a fabulous Cruella De Vil, Hugh Laurie (from House), as one of her bumbling henchmen and Jeff Daniels, as Roger. Although the dogs do not actually talk to each other in this one, thier use of nonverbals is excellent and clearly manages to tell their part of the story. To make up for lack of dialogue between the dogs, the stories between the human actors has been expanded, which I think adds a new and ...

  • 101 Dalmatians

I must question the G rating for this movie. Glenn Close was perfect for her role as Cruella De Vil, but can terrify young children. The cruelty of Jasper, Horace and the other "bad" guy goes a bit far and takes the fun out of the movie. I think it could create a few nights of bad dreams for most youngsters. I must say though, the movie is well done. I think it would be just fine for children over 8.

  • So many dogs, So little time

An evil high-fashion designer plots to steal Dalmatian puppies in order to make an extravagant fur coat but creates an extravagant mess instead.
