Light escapist pre-gulf post Vietnam adventure .
This is a perfect example of 70's television. They were trying to get a hold on our culture by updating old characters. As usual they didn't take the advice of the creator who had a better grasp of what a 'Super-Hero' is and they concentrated on helicopter scenes and motorcycle stunts instead of character development. It's the same thing in Charlie's angels, Fantasy Island, the love boat, the Man From Atlantis, Spiderman, and the big green guy. The only difference is that in the Hulk they had Bixby. There is no doubt that with the recent release of the Captain America series of films (starring Chris Evans) many have begun to take more intrest in our dear o'l cap. But these films are no where near that type of level of special effects and storyline. Please keep in mind that these films were made in the late 70' and early 80's. This was a time when comic book characters weren't taken as seriously as they are now. So don't expect a great amazing film like we are getting fed with now. If you choose to buy this I strongly urge you to be a fan of the character and not the movies going on now. This is great for collectors who enjoy watching the cinematic evolution of a character, but if you are not you will be disappointed or fall asleep 😴 in the middle of each film. The movies are fun ... Captain America 1&2 excellent family movies. I give it thumbs up!
I thought that the actor who played Captain America in the movies was a good fit. He had a down to earth quality about him which helped give him the means to seem like the innocent guy next door feel. He also was very well built and muscular which made him a perfect candidate for the role of Captain America. This actor made his role in both the regular clothes and the costume very believable.Although the younger viewers may not care or understand the story lines completely, they would enjoy the colorful costume and gadgets of the main character, along with all the action in this movie. This movie has a little something for just about everyone. It had good story lines,a lot of action, and some suspenseful moments. This was all done in such a way that makes for a good family movie. This DVD double feature includes both made-for-TV Captain America films from 1979. The first and most important thing to understand about these movies is that they aren't good. Objectively. They are truly bad. But does that make this a bad item? Not necessarily. To be clear they are fun movies. If you're looking for a good laugh at the expense of a copyright extension trap then this is a fine choice. Still, even watching for cult humour value I was a little let down. Ultimately I would only recommend these films for diehard Captain America fans looking for a good laugh at the movies' expense.This DVD double feature includes both made-for-TV Captain America films from 1979.
