So, I have tons of gear. More than I'd like to admit. However, the only Vox amp I own is a small 10-15 watt Vox pathfinder solid state amp. Not the greatest benchmark for testing this Hotone product, but still a benchmark. I love this stupid thing!! - I can noodle while on conference calls by wearing a headset because yes! You can use it without connecting it to a cab. - How does it compare to my Pathfinder? It's not as loud, and the speaker selection does make a difference. But this thing sounds better that the pathfinder by a country mile! - About speaker selection: I was able to get great sounds regardless of the cabinet used. Cabinets used: - Line 6 4x12 with Celestion Greenback speakers - Hughes and Kettner 4x12 with Celestion Creamback speakers - Fender 4x12 with Eminence speakers - Crate Palomino 2x12 with custom voiced Crate Speakers Liked it so much I just placed an order for the Vulcan model. OK, so I use this a little differently than it's probably going to be used by most folks, but it does a great job for what I need. I use this (going out of the headphone/line out jack) in a loop on my pedal board, switching back and forth between electric and acoustic guitar going into an acoustic guitar amp, or a powered stage monitor. Sounds like a mic'd up AC-30. I keep it set fairly clean, and run a Maxon OD808 in front of it for overdrive. I use a hybrid guitar, with the acoustic side bypassing the HOTONE, and going through it just for the electric tones. Saves me dragging two guitars and amps to a gig. Great British tone without lugging the amp around!

Want an AC30 but don't want to spend big dollars? Get a Hotone British Invasion. Awesome tone, a very musical EQ section, and a great 5-watts worth of power. Awesome for studio, rehearsal or small gigs. I have it paired with a Marshall closed back 1x12 cab and love the sound. Def worth it!

This little amp produces great tube tone without the tubes! Amp has a good feel and is handy to use with my CD player. Sounds great with my 1x12 fender cabs and my 2x10 tremolux cab with wgs speakers. Great home and studio amp . I have the Mojo Diamond as well and that sounds great too!

I've never owned an Vox (probably why I bought this), but it sounds pretty close to my ears! The gain is exactly what I like - clean at first, then at about half way up its starting to break up and get a little crackly, but still with plenty of sparkle. With gain all the way up its screaming. The tone controls are quite responsive too. Lots of low end as well as plenty of that trademark sparkly high end. I love it.
