Current slide {CURRENT_SLIDE} of {TOTAL_SLIDES}- Best Selling in Acoustic Electric Guitars
I bought one blind on eBay after very little research. Got it earlier in 2013 for a paltry $125. It was built in 2001, and boy, do I wish I had known about this guitar back then (MSPR then was $499.95)! I've had Martins, Guilds, Gibsons, Fenders, Washburns and a host of others, but this one is truly the best sounding and easiest playing guitar I've ever had. The solid cedar top has aged beautifully and has stood the test of time - no cracks anywhere. The satin finish lets the wood resonate wonderfully. Laminate nato sides and back and mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard and bridge and Tak's grover-style tuners. I put some light-medium Martin clearcoat strings on it and the unamplified sound about blew me out of the room! I can see why this model was such a popular guitar. I've had Taks before, but this one is so far above what I had previously owned. Everything about this instrument says quality and pride in workmanship. It has Tak's dual-action truss rod, but mine needed no adjustment. To juice it a bit, I replaced the plastic nut and saddle with real bone and replaced the plastic bridge pins with rosewood. Set it up myself and, guess what...IT GOT EVEN SWEETER! Excellent balance of tone with deep, rich bottom, satisfying middle and bell-like high notes. And the harmonics are crystal clear. Newer models have the pinless bridge, which may be a plus, but for the money I spent, I FLAT-ASS LOVE THIS QUALITY INSTRUMENT. Tak is now making guitars with split saddles, and the last couple years of the GS330S model have them, but again, this one was super the way I got it and it got better with my "improvements". Love the Tak narrow neck. They quit making this model in 2012, and that's a crying shame. You can buy 'em for under $300 on eBay or at music stores that have had 'em sitting around for a while, and I recommend you try 'em out...if you're seeking a clear sound with a voice of it's own, this is your guitar. I guarantee you'll be surprised at the craftsmanship that went into these. Some were made in Korea (mine was), but Tak also made some in Taiwan, which are said to be even better. Boy, would I like to find out!!! I don't think I'll ever own a better instrument, especially for the pittance I gave for it! There should be more than five stars!Read full review
