I like this television very much. I can use it with my Samsung blu ray DVD and my old Zenith DVD/VCR player well. I do think it was a little expensive but what the h*ll!! I do miss the little "tones" that used to come on when I turned the TV off and on. It may have tones but I haven't figured out how to get them on! The picture for TV and my DVDs and VCR cassettes is excellent. This TV is the largest screen I ever owned but just fit into the space I had for it. I still can't get the sound the way I like it unless I push it up to the level where my f*cking neighbor with extremely sensitive hearing problems stomps on the floor! I think all of these newer TV's rely on sound bars (what ever those are) to accomodate the really BIG TV's. This TV was easy to assemble and connect my simple DVD players and I am really glad I bought it.Read full review

We bought this to replace a nearly identical item that worked well for 7 years in our very small living room. The pedestal stand works far better for us than the pair of v-shaped feet on all the newer (usually 30”) models. One really irritating feature of both the old one and this replacement—there is no setting that captures all the text across the bottom of certain broadcasts. If you set it on “custom,” it does adjust to capture the full width of some shows and movies, but we still can’t read the full names of guests on (for example) some interview shows on PBS. Oh well... it’s still the best option for our situation.

The 28-inch screen is adequate for a small room. I replaced an old 27-inch CRT TV with this in a bedroom. I use it for OTA and DVD/VHS viewing and the upscaling is good; difficult to tell the difference from full HD resolution at this screen size without pixel-peeping. Have a much larger TV for HD cable viewing and the picture quality between the two is very similar.

`Nice TV for a really good price. Good picture and multiple input jacks. Only complaint is that volume is inadequate with the speakers pointed at the floor. We will fix our volume problem with a sound bar or aux speaker system.

Excellent picture and sound, especially if you decrease the 100Hz level all the way with the equalizer. Otherwise, the bass tends to be a bit "boomy." Typical Samsung excellent color saturation. This was for our kitchen, and since I had an extra Roku Ultra streamer box, and since the TV has 2 ea. HDMI inputs, there was no need for this TV to be a "Smart TV." I use Roku Ultra's even with our other Smart TVs as the Roku is faster and easier to navigate. 28" LCD TVs with LED illumination are very hard to find these days (August 2019). Only a couple of manufacturers offer them, and in the case of LG's most recent 28" TV, it has poor audio and no optical or RCA outputs to use an external speaker system. This (2014 Model) Samsung UN284000 series 28" TV is a winner.
