Likes: A really nice feature is the lists of cities and streets that come up after typing a few characters and the list of available address numbers once you have city and street name. Overall its easy to operate. Dislikes: Hard to see on really sunny days, 2005 addresses not found in maps from 2009 but it gets you close. Suction cup loosen after a few hours causing unit to fall. Overall: Good

I really love this little GPS. Dollar for Dollar this is the best little car gadget you can get. I do alot of back country stuff up in the mountains and this GPS knows every back road there is. Even when I am miles from a paved road and cell phone service the Magellan still tells me exactly where I am and where to go. I think that is the thing I like most about this little guy. The database is full of points of interest and unlike most GPS's the ones in this one are very easy to navigate. It even has phone numbers for all of the POI's in it. There is only one thing that I dislike about the Magellan Roadmate 1220 GPS. First thing that I don't like is what the GPS says is the fastest way, is not always really the fastest way to your destination. Sometimes it wants to put you on short roads with a ton of lights when you could have taken the highway and saved 10 minutes. Overall great little product. Perfect for trips. I would definitely recommend this to a friend.Read full review
I've only used this one day and thus far, it has been great. I was a little worried about the smaller screen size vs. those larger ones, but I haven't had any problems with seeing the screen. The voice is easy to hear and understand. The only problem thus far has been the route it was taking me from work to home was WAY out of the way. I was just using it to see how it worked and luckily, knew my way. Hopefully, this won't happen often.
As with all GPS systems, there is no real way to get around bad directions. I have used several different brands and all of them route to my home using a back country road that is out of the way, slower and longer. Put in via points and all three reroute back to the road I want to avoid. The RoadMate has a more complete POI list, especially for finding grocery stores, auto parts, etc. Screen is clear, vocal warnings are distinct. Major disadvantage is the short battery life.
