Product competes with high end GPS receivers in terms of features such as 4.3" screen, Compass View, Text to Speech directions, etc. and good value for the money However, What I didn't like about the product is limited battery life (at least with the piece I got) It may be due to refurbished nature. Also 1.6 Million Points of interest may sound large but now with my experience, we'll need about 6 million points of interests. I was not able to find big chain shop branches near my location such as Wal-mart, Rite aid, Target, etc. But strangely, I was able to find very small restaurents such as town-and country pizza which are very local! Perhaps when cutting down to fit for sizes, it might have been easier to remove bulk POIs of retail chains and leave smaller, individual ones! Banks / ATMs / Restaurents were ok to find and are even shown on the map while you drive. Also Map updates is a PAID activity. You got to pay another $60 or so to Nextar to receive an one-time update. Overall, looking at the cost, it may strike a good deal but may or may not satisfy individual preferences. I had to return my device back due to the battery issue.Read full review
This is a great entry level GPS. Very user friendly from the start. Worth the price. However, it needs more catagories &/or sub catagories. There are two separate headins for Office max & Office Depot(?) and none for Gift/collectables stores such as a Hallmark card store, ect. Also, under reastaurants there are very few local "Mom & Pop" style eateries but every fast food you can think of is there. Some day I'll give this one to my son and get the next level up, but for now it is a great starter model.
It has a large display and great touchscreen. Comes with stylus that hides away in the back. Best GPS you can get for the price hands down. The only cons are it only has 1.6 million Poi's as compared to other brand name GPS's that have 3 to 5 million. It could do without the MP3 player and picture viewer to make space for additional GPS features. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for it to acquire a good signal and figure out where your at. Just be ready to turn it on a few minutes before you need it. Overall I was happy and will enjoy it a lot I think.
I love this GPS. I had originally purchased a Garmin Nuvi 285WT, and returned it to the store, due to the fact that it had NO IDEA where I lived, as well as other problems. I bought this one, fingers crossed, and it knew exactly how to get to my house! Also, Nextar didn't load this GPS down with too many features that distract from safe driving. The announcer on the Nextar also tells you a few times that you need to turn right, for example, she says "in 500 ft, turn right," then again, she will say, "make a right turn," when it is actually time for you to make that right turn. Clear directions, easy to operate, and it runs off of an SD card that supplies the maps, so there is no need to connect the GPS itself to the internet for map updates-you just save the updates to the SD card itself, (when needed, as mine came with updated maps), pop it back into the GPS, and you are ready to go. It also picks up very rural communities that the Garmin didn't recognize. I am so happy with my Nextar GPS!Read full review
great product! works great! easy to use! nice to have! i found this to be better than the Tom Tom. I like the big screeen and how easy it is to work it. I like the way it tells you turn by turn directions. and how it can easily re route itself if you take a wrong turn.
