They manufacturer has excellent customer service and many additional add-ons to make this unit an extremely versatile GPS to be used in town, on trips, hunting, fishing, cycling, hiking, four wheeling or camping. Suggestion: 1. Purchase an Amplified External GPS Antenna for the unit. The internal antenna is ok but will become intermittent in high buildings, cloudy skies and stormy weather. Solid piece of hardware. The screen is clear and navigation is pretty intuitive. I bought it only for the electric cord, which comes with a special plug and a small speaker at the end of the cigarette lighter plug, and without which the device is inoperable. You can't find this cable elsewhere, since it's been discontinued. Could not use the MP3 hard drive, since the unit doesn't have its own battery and I do not have a 110v to 12 v cigarette lighter converter. All in all, it's accurate, but not as friendly as the TomTom I have in the other car. It sometimes takes a long while to boot and find the position. I suspect that placing it too close to the cigarette lighter/speaker might affect its satellite reception. Once it gets it, it works fine. If I could manage to transfer musical files on its hard drive, I would be happy with it.Read full review
My Lowrance 500c went bad after 11 years Lowrance does not support this product any longer. There are no gps map updates. I knew this. I like the 500c display It is one of the best displays ever. It is a shame that Lowrance is no longer making these' I am transferring over 360 locations to the 500c I just purchased. The 500c arrived in very good condition. The unit is very clean and is 100% functional Although an antique, the product is exactly what I was looking for.
Verified purchase: Yes | Condition: Pre-owned
We bought this thinking that it would work well Off/road since it was a Lowrance and the sell stated it was off road. Turns out it is not easy to use and it got lost very quickly in the sand dunes. It is heavy and bulky so not a great choose to install in a Polaris RZR. But the worst part is when I stated this in the feedback and left Neutral feedback for the seller stating this, I was texted to my personal cell phone and basically as to how insensitive my feed back was and "You might as well left negative feed back". Is this what happens when your honest about how you feel about the product? I never said it did not work, I just stated it is not what we thought it should be, You KNOW...OFF/ROAD its not. So I am stating to all RZR owners, Don't buy something inexpensive In the GPS for your sand car. Lowrance dose make some great ones for our cars.Read full review
After the Lowrance iWay 500C I had used for more than three years on my 2004 Goldwing decided to give up the ghost I checked into repairing it. Due to an unfortunate hard shock (I dropped it taking it off the bike) the touch screen would not calibrate. Repairing it would be a flat-rate $200 - and I would still have a 3+ year-old device that was past its warranty. I decided to shop for a new GPS. I really liked the features of the iWay. It is programmable to make it look and operate the way I wanted; it has an MP3 player with available 10GB hard drive space above the hard drive space reserved for maps and operating system; it is waterproof to 1 meter depth. Besides, I already had the Goldwing' integrated system wired for the iWay power and audio. After comparing the alternatives - Zumo, Nuvi, Tom-Tom and others - I decided to see what a 500C would cost. It is no longer made, having been replaced by the 600C. On Ebay, several 500C's were available and the decision was made. The cost was only slightly more than the cost to repair my original 500C. Like all of my buying experiences on Ebay, this was pleasant and without any sort of problems. I have the unit I am most familiar with at a price that made it the only choice.
