I was turned onto the advice of Dr. Sears by a wonderful friend and mother of a son. I loved how every choice she made was with her son's best interests in mind and she encouraged him to embrace his boyhood, instead of shushing him and makng him "stay still." I have two boys now and reading Dr. Sears books have been an enormous blessing. The book L.E.A.N. Kids is so important because it is a real life "how-to" feed your child the very best. The ideas for snacks and food choices are reasonable. Other books, like Super BabyFood, that I have read require shopping at specialty stores and paying higher prices. I think this book can be incorporated into anyones life with kids. The feeling a mom gets when she looks at her child and knows she is contributing to his future health is priceless. He suggests shopping the perimeter of the grocery store because the center aisles contain the unwanted foods. This makes so much sense because the dairy, meat, produce and bread are in the perimeter. He says our job as parents is to provide the healthy meal and it is the kids job to eat it. This statement was a real pressure release for me because I would spend all the meal trying to pressure my son to eat. I cannot tell you how many times I have entered a conversation about kids and Dr. Sears comes up because so many mothers trust him. He is not judgemental of other methods of parent and everything is done to establish a love between parent and child. He is an awesome doctor and parent himself.Read full review
