alot like the old game, in a good way mostly. Some things seem like obvious video game mechanisms like ammo spread around everywhere and convenient side routes that are specifically suited to your powers but it is alot of fun over all. not just for nostalgia it is a good game on its own and tho you get great enhancements from the games augment system you never feel totally safe or over powered. the graphics are a bit dated and the AI leaves alot to be desired in the enemeys. one thing that annoyed me was the energy system for using powers, it was just not well done.the lvling system isnt my favorite either but its a minor issue. overall, very enjoyable and you can play it more than once and expect a totally diff rent experience.
It is a mixture of Metal Gear Solid mixed with Grand Theft Auto, Resident Evil, Mass Effect. The stealth aspect falls short for a PS3 game. Enemy detection is not even close to the realm of MGS, since you can shoot an enemy and simply wait unhidden for ten seconds before the enemy gives up and goes back to ignoring his surroundings. The accuracy of your weapons are non-existent, not to mention it has an inventory slot like Resident Evil, with the added benefit of having no ammo. This game takes all the things that make other games challenging and integrate it into a messy game that begs to be like any of those titles. They added also, a hacking system. Which does not require any skill, just blind luck and annoying waiting between hacks if you fail randomly. They even added a nice open world like GTA almost, except there is nothing to do in-between except look at ghetto like ambiance and partially retarded guards. You can "choose" what you say like ME, but the choices have less ramifications and the story line is not interesting enough to care if your being "Empathetic" verses "Caring." In short, just buy Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Grand Theft Auto or Mass Effect and actually have a decent game.Read full review
To tell you the truth, I was wary of this game when it first came out. I consider reviews by 'experts' at IGN (and other sites) like movie reviews by critics...worth next to nothing. Each player is gonna have his/ or her preference. Just because an IGN staffer loves shooters...a game like Modern Warfare may not be your cup of tea. I found that this game was fun and somewhat immersive. A long game? Not in the slightest, but it was fun to go back and replay at least once. If you like an interesting story, a little bit of character customization and options of how you should play, then this game is for you. Considering that it has been out for little while...you should be able to get it cheap too.
This game is beautiful. Granted not perfect, but it would be unrealistic to expect much more from a game of this magnitude. The technical constraints, I can only imagine, were numerous. The story is fantastic, extremely engaging, and to anyone with at least a grade 5 level of intelligence, enormously relevant in today's society. The gameplay is tight - despite occasional AI glitches - and thoroughly immersing. The sheer amount of options at your disposal when customizing your character is astounding. I found myself taking forever to choose where I would use my praxis points, as almost every decision you make in Human Revolution has a direct impact in your experience. And that is fantastic. Rarely have I found myself so drawn into a world, a game, the way I have with Human Revolution. If you're a fan of engaging stories, intense action and Rpgs in general, then do yourself a favor and buy this game.Read full review
