Excellent beginners book to finances!!
I am a recent college graduate who has just entered the work force with very little knowledge of finances and I absolutely love this book! Although I have only made it through a few select chapters in the book so far, I know that the rest of the book will provide me with a wealth of information. I graduated this past May and started working soon after that. I started accumulating money (which I never had before) and started questioning, "What am I supposed to do with this?" My long-time boyfriend and I discussed possibly purchasing our first home. But at the same time, I started paying for my car and my car insurance, my school loans... I didn't know where all the money I was making was going and I didn't know what to do with what I had left. I bought Orman's YFB book hoping that it would ... No one had ever explained finances to me and I was really clueless as to how it all worked. Orman's book was wonderful. I love her writing style. She writes directly to her target audience (us, YFBers) and writes in plain language which is easy to understand. She makes learning about beginner's finance fun and informative. She starts with the fundamentals of understanding your money and how you can make it work for you all the way to the steps to purchasing a home. Even my boyfriend who already has some knowledge of finances learned a few things! The only minor complaint I have is that she discussed a lot about being totally broke (using credit cards to pay off credit cards, things like that) which was not the situation that I personally was in. Some of the book is directed at people who have dug themselves into a financial hole and are trying to work themselves out. In my case, I just started accumulating money and I wanted to know how to begin saving for my future. Although I personally did not benefit from discussing the being-totally-broke situation, I'm sure a lot of other people will find these sections very helpful. Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who has found him or herself in a similar situation to mine. Most parents don't have conversations about finances with their kids and for those who do, I'm sure it's not nearly as in-depth or information as this book. You'll enjoy reading it and you'll learn a lot in the process. I know I did.

This book is absolutely essential for someone that wants to get their finances in order. You don't have to know much about finances for it to make sense and her instructions are easy to follow. It provides real life examples to problems that many of us are dealing with, whether it be our student loans, credit card debt, car loans, or buying a home this book can help with all of it from the beginning. Great tips and websites offered throughout, plus a glossary with easy to understand definitions of what could be confusing terms. I would definately recommend this book to anyone!This book is absolutely essential for someone that wants to get their finances in order. A Must Have for Young People
This is a great book for the 20 somethings and 30 somethings. It is direct and straight foward just as Suze is. It it clearly outlined and easy to read and follow and most importantly to the point. You won't find ridicolous advices here such as "How to shave off $10 a day on spending". That's just pretentious for the Fabulous, Young and Broke! What you will find is explanations and step by step advice. From Fixing your credit to finding and buying your first house. It is and essential book to have on the shelf in this tough economy, especially for the Young. Change wont' come immediately as Suze explain but it is doable if you're commited about your finances!This is a great book for the 20 somethings and 30 somethings.
