Very accurate, robust and fairly priced.
There are several versions of the Hamilton Khaki Field Watch. This version is 42mm in diameter and features the CAL. H-10 movement, which has proven to be extremely accurate, to within 7 seconds in one month for my watch. I have a small wrist, and the 42mm size is just a tad large for me, but for most men it will be fine. If you have a very small wrist you might have a look at the 40mm version (H70595963) or the 38mm version (H70455523), which have 20mm wide straps, rather than the 22mm wide strap of the H70555533. Speaking of the brown leather strap, it is very robust, comfortable and stylish. I wear mine 24/7, even in the shower, and it still looks new. I postponed buying this watch for several years, but now it's my everyday watch. The only time I change it is for formal occasions.There are several versions of the Hamilton Khaki Field Watch. A home run by Hamilton!
I've been wearing this since I received it about two weeks ago and I've experienced accuracy at a consistent +3s/d, at an entry level price. I've done a little research on the H-10 calibre and found out that the "counter weight balance wheel" (I don't know what else to call it) regulation used by Hamilton and Tissot Powermatic 80 (and Jaeger-LeCoultre as well), while requiring factory intervention to regulate, is much more stable than the traditional method. This essentially mandates that they be pretty well regulated right out of the factory and this is no exception. Initially, I figured that I was "settling" for this calibre rather than the high beat ETA 2824-2 but if the H-10 is this accurate and the stability is as expected, as well as the stated 80 hour power reserve, then I feel I ... Hamilton in good hands with Swatch
This is my second Hamilton Khaki. The 42mm is perfect for myself. I removed the leather bands immediately after opening, going to a NATO band - I prefer this style strap on all of my watches. The movement is based on an ETA movement (Swatch owning both ETA and Hamilton) and is accurate enough, as far as mechanical watches go. The crown is a little large but doesn’t dig in my wrist; wished the crown was screw down. Also, would like a black date window rather than white. But only minor styling preferences, that would add to the overall aesthetic. Probably the best value in this price range - a style that never gets old.This is my second Hamilton Khaki.
