Its a decent camera if you can get it cheap enough. The battery life is pretty good with new batters. I've shot at least an hour worth of video (two separate trips) and the batteries are still going. The video quality is alright. Not great, not too terrible. If youve got the cash, i would recommend an upgrade to the HD version, I would assume its got better quality video. Sound is AWESOME. Easy to hear and translates well to youtube movies without any weird grain or static in the background. Be aware though, this version of this camera does NOT make movies that are natively usable by mac/Apple computers. I had to buy quicktime pro in order to convert the movies to a readable file type to edit them. This was annoying because the manufacturer said they worked with macs! If you've already got that program or another converter you're good to go. All in all, its a good camera if you need one.Read full review
The flip video is a great video camera. I recently got one and it is fantastic. It takes a great quality picture and take up to 60 minutes of video. It also has a convenient usb port that pops out the side. The only problems with it is if you lose the program for it you cant get it back. I experienced this but luckily it came back on its own. The other problem is that it is very sensitive. So, you have to really hold it with a firm grip or get the tripod for it. Overall a great camera for a great price. I recommend getting it 4/5.
I am taking a public speaking class online this semester, so I had to purchase a video camera to upload my assignments to a youtube page. After reviewing all my alternatives, the Flip seemed to be the most logical choice. Within 10 minutes of the camera arriving on my doorstep, I was taking video. It is SUPER easy to use; the only thing I needed the manual for was to figure out where the battery compartment was. With the built in usb, I had my first video uploaded almost instantly to my macbook. People who are more "professional" might not like this camera, as it is pretty simple with not a lot of bells and whistles. For the everyday joe, however, this camera is perfect. So for all those who want to use a video camera without going to film school, the flip is perfect! I hear the HD ones are even better, too!Read full review
The Flip Video Ultra Camcorder is a mini-cam that can easily fit in your pocket, so it's always ready when you are. The manual is about the size of a pamphlet; this thing is so ridiculously easy to use, you don't need a dozen pages or more to get it. Basically, you aim it and press the big red "Record" button. To stop recording, just press "Record" again (you do have to press firmly, though; I guess that's to prevent accidental recording in your pocket!) Then you pay it back on the screen provided on the unit, hook it up to your TV with the cable provided, or download it to your PC, or straight to YouTube and other video hosting sites. It comes with editing software that loads when you hook your Flip to your PC the first time, and after that, the Flip must be attached to the PC if you want to use the software, which is a bit of a drag if you want to edit videos that are already on the PC. I guess you could just use some other editing app if you don't want to attach the Flip every time. Speaking of that, the Flip has a very convenient pop-out USB arm for attaching it to your PC. The video quality is clear; a little jerky, but for the price (mine was $79.95) it's perfectly acceptable. It looks exceptionally good in low light, and that's not an extra feature. It's just that good! It's also has 2x zoom-in/out. All in all, the Flip Video Ultra Camcorder is a fantastic bargain!Read full review
These little cameras are just awsome. The video and the audio are excellent quality for no bigger or more expensive than these units are. Be careful not to exceed normal sound levels. The audio will distort in the playback. The Computer interface is where they shine because they are an easy USB hookup. They auto install the software when you first hook them up and update when needed each time you interface with your computer. Opening new folders to store Video files in is real easy and standard "windows" protocal. Making Movies from your clips is elementary but effective. Adding sound and text to your productions is easy using the FlipVideo software. If you have been around a computer at all, you won't have a problem figuring this out. The Flipvideo software makes E-mailing your videos or posting to your favorite Blog/Message/Group only a click away. Just to say it one more time in another way, The onboard microphone cannot handle the LOUDNESS of a BAR Band at full volume. I wish it could. Other than that, It is an exceptional product. I have Old, New and newest(HD) models. The HD models run slow on the older computers. Getting those HD videos on Youtube from the older computers play just fine. Enjoy!Read full review
