The card is brand new and it worked fine, but be aware this is actually the 2 port EC2S952, not the 1 port EC1S952 like the ad states. I actually wanted the 1 port version since it has a standard DB-9M on the card itself, the 2 port version has a DB-15F plug and has a special one of a kind cable to split it into 2 DB-9M plugs. Which means if you lose that special one of a kind cable the card is useless. I'm using this card with Win7 32-bit and it installed without any problems. I downloaded the driver from the website. Used a null modem to connect the two ports together and tested it with PuTTY and it worked fine. Needed a card with a dedicated RS-232 on it for some software that is finicky and won't work with a USB RS-232 adapter. One of those programs is the firmware update utility for a Watlow F4 controller, was able to use it with this card a-ok. Hopefully this old laptop holds out, as the newer laptops don't have Expressport card slots. Read full review
