I purchased the Cruz Reader to use as a buget tablet and something to experiment with modifying/hacking. It runs Android 2.1 or 2.0 and does what its designed for well enough. Book/document reader, light internet surfing on the wifi works well and there are a few games you can install to play when your tired of reading or out of wifi range. The screen is nice and crisp for a resistive touchscreen with only a hint of fuzziness. The basic apps that come with the device are okay but the app store will be needed for better versions that provide more functionality. The memory and processor are enough for reader and light games but many other apps are beyond this readers ability to run. Video playback on the Cruz is often unwatchable and some video codecs wont play at all. Compared to other present generation devices the Micro Cruz R102 will feel dissappointing but is comparative to other early devices.Read full review
This is perfect for a beginner eReader. Yes, it very basic but there is an app in the cruz market called GetJar and has tons of games, apps and other various downloadable content (including kid apps also). It has very good storage space and battery life (besides when using the internet). The internet works pretty good when you have a good wi-fi connection. The YouTube app (needs to be installed first), works about 95% of the time, sometimes it just needs refreshing a couple of times but the graphic detail in the videos are exceptional. The only thing that disappointed me was the selection of free ebooks but then again, I'm very picky when it comes to reading. Someone who reads a wide variety of genres would really enojy it. Overall, I would recommend this to someone who is interested in purchasing an eReader but, doesn't want to burn a hole in their pocket. Or for a young child (5-10yrs range).Read full review
It does everything I expected it to and a little more, I bought it to replace an older Ebook reader it does that although you have to download the app's to do it, I feel it should have came pre-installed with the kindle app and a standard epub and lit reader older versions had the Borders reader installed, but I guess since borders went out of business, and Barnes and noble have the 'Nook' they decided not to pre-install anything but the basic's, The Browser is okay if very slow even on fast internet, pages are unreadble to me though as they are very compressed in a 7inch reader, I've not used it to veiw movies or play songs as yet, but It will probably be okay. my old reader did them reasonably well, so I expect this one will do them better, being that its a much better product, it feels very solid, and has a good weight. I really like it, it does everything a Nook colour does, it does everything a kindle fire does, I feel it does everything I wanted it to do and a few more things too! the touch screen is a little slow, but I think that can be a good thing as well as a bad thing.Read full review
i bought this tablet for my 9 year old it is a good product for the money i mean its not an ipad its android the main purpose of me buying it is so she could download games etc but it has no space and the sd option is usless everthing you download is saved to tablet there is no option to save to sd card so itt was pretty usless to her but as far as web browsing, email, taking notes, and reading it is great for that ..the browser is kinda slow but what do u expect.
Great reader pad but that is what it's used for. This is not a Ipad and should not bought as such. If you use it as what is was intended, like me, you will be very ahhy. Good quality and geat battery power when you turn the Wi-Fi off to concerve energy. It will do internet but it's not realy desighn for that so be pacient. Great item to bring into town and know where to go or reading books like I do. I'm very ahhy mith my Cruz R102
