I'm giving this model (GS724TPv2) four stars but it's an average of a 5 and a 3 stars. The 5 star is for the operation and L2/L3 capabilities. The 3 star is for the jet engine fans. I can understand the fan noise if I had 12 POE devices pulling high current and the other ports switching all day long but for an idle switch with this much noise it's too much. They could have built in a fan map or user level adjustment of the fan speed, I'd give a 5 star but after changing out both fans for lower volume/ lower RPM fans for $10 from Amazon. I had to do some rewiring but it was money well spent. Overall the switch is well worth the money if you get it for less than a Mikrotik 24 port with 10Gb SFP ports. If you are paying more, get the Mikrotik or even a Ubiquiti switch. Any of these three will be great for a Pro-sumer home network.Read full review

Good price for this gigabit PoE switch. Fans are noisy but it's in a dedicated room. Web interface for VLAN setup is very slow and I have only gotten it to work with a very specific version of Firefox. Once setup, all is good.

With PoE on all channels and gigabyte channels, this is a great switch.
