I love my Tab is easy and light weight. Can't be without it now. I watch movies, stream the internet, and take pics on the go with this thing. I haven't complete worked out the video chat, but so far a great buy. I have no complaints about the product. The size of the tablet was the selling point for myself. The 10 in screen is not a portable as this one. I can use it save documents and there are several different document viewer apps available on the Android Market. I learn different things that I can do on the device every day. The voice recognition system is great for hands free searches. The sync to my google account makes it very conducive to my lifestyle and helps with keeping me organized.
The good: Samsung's 7-inch Android tablet is a serious competitor to the Apple iPad, boasting two cameras, Flash compatibility, and a more convenient size. The bad: The Tab behaves more like a supersize Android phone than a Netbook alternative. The Android OS and its apps aren't yet optimized for the larger screen. Depending on your plan, you may be in for a two-year contract and a commitment to monthly charges. The bottom line: The Galaxy Tab is a beautiful product with features that will make iPad owners envious, but its in-between size and possible carrier commitments hold it back from broad appeal.
Samsung Galaxy is the first competitor of the Apple iPad, a tablet in the mobile market, almost all the features and usefulness have in common, and the following are some advantages and disadvantages that will discuss about the features and explanation of the Galaxy Tab Pros: 1. In terms of the size of the Galaxy has an advantage because the smaller size and lighter than the Apple iPad 2. Storage capabilities that rival its competitors namely Notebook, with storage capacities ranging from 32Giga Byte up to 64 Giga Bytes. 3. Camera used: Home - 1.3Megapixel for video conferencing, Rear - 3 Megapixel camera that comes with "LED flash". 4. Galaxy has a good media support, because it can open video formats like DivX, Xvid, and WMV, where IPAD is not able to support file. Cons 1. Display screen is less than the maximum because it can only display 1024x600 screen resolution, as we all know the standard application used to make the 1024x768 resolution. 2. Supporting applications that are still relatively small compared with the iPad, because not many developers who create programs Android Applications. 3. Battery capacity is less durable than its competitors (Notebook). Notebook can hold up to 10 hours, Galaxy can hold up to 7 hours. At Samsung Galaxy uses Samsung's TouchWiz 3.0 technology to support performance and give you an edge on this gadget. Samsung TouchWiz 3.0 technology is the basis for selection of touch-interface, as well as the placement of widgets on the screen. It is also responsible for the haptic feedback on Tab Galaxy (ie, a small vibration that recognizes when you've touched the screen). Tobol will light up just below the screen, Menu, Home, Back, and Search and will issue a response to the vibration when you touch the buttons. In addition to software features discussed above, the Samsung Galaxy has several devices that can be used as a complement of this gadget, that is, the HDMI connector used to connect to the screen for a larger size, Jack audio-output used to connect through the voice of the speaker to enlarge the existing players in this Galaxy, MicroSD external memory card slot as an addition to the external data storage capacity as well as the microphone used as a supplement at the time of recording video.Read full review
There's a fine line between cumbersome (too big) and minuscule (too tiny). The Galaxy Tab found that fine line ideally. Larger ‘pads’ may be getting most of the press right now. But, let’s face it, the iPad is just a little more portable than a regular laptop. For me, it’s really all about true-to-life usability. The Galaxy Tab has enough room for my bulky fingers to operate and yet still fits nicely in the side pocket of my cargo pants. The Tab operates fast, has quick access to turn on/off important features (like GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Sound), and is easy to use. If I really get picky, there are only three things that I dislike. (1) It does not charge from standard USB drive on the PC, (2) the USA versions have disabled the cell- phone feature, & (3) there isn’t a mini USB port on the device. Again, this is if I get really picky. Overall, I am very happy with my Galaxy Tab. I would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for this type of device.Read full review
I really like this tablet. It's better than the iPad to me because of size. iPad is waaaayy too big! Why would you carry around a 10" screen?? iPad is hard to hold for me. Just my opinion. This 7" unit is much better. Also, iOS (on the iPad) is not very customizable (unless you wanna void your warranty.) Anyway, more on this, you can customize everything. For all you geeks out there, there are great ROMs for it and it's easy to 'root'. I was able to overclock mine to 1.4ghz!! That made a huge difference in performance. If not for that, I would have given it a 4 because it can be a little slow at times. With the 1.4 OC, it runs terrific. There's one person even working on a phone app for this t-mobile version and you could use a bluetooth headset with it for calls. You can do skype of course right now, alternatively. My dislikes: The screen could be AMOLED, but that's a dream for the price I paid. I only paid $255 which is awesome. It seems to be that the Galaxy tabs that have 3g built-in are cheaper than the wifi only ones.. (the ones that are subsidized through carriers, like mine being t-mobile.) A good tip: if you want one cheap, buy a Sprint one or (a little more rare) t-mobile one. I didn't see other carrier's versions as cheap as these and there are NO trade offs if you are just using it as a wifi only device. I did go ahead and get t-mobile on it and by the way, you can get an UNLIMITED data plan for $29.99!! They call it 200mb of supposed 4g, then 3g after that. This unit does not utilize 4g anyway and I'm getting some quite decent speeds on 3g. (1.5mb average) peak around 3mb. I guess it depends on where you live. I remembered one more good tip. If you are going to use it on a carrier, go with t-mobile or at&t due to their 3g being much better. I love Sprint, but their (and Verizon's) 3g is terrible. I only get about 500k average with either here in Oklahoma City where I live. Sorry to ramble, hope this is helpful and good luck!!Read full review
