About this product

Product Information

Siemens built the Efficient Networks SpeedStream 4100 DSL modem to establish a strong wired internet connection for both home and corporate networks, and it offers users a full-featured DSL router solution to connect a variety of devices to it. This PPPoE modem acts as an ADSL modem and router with DHCP server support for corporate and home use. It provides instant Ethernet connectivity to the Internet using the Ethernet jack on the back of the unit, and can connect with other DSL/WAN devices using an additional Ethernet (RJ11) port. The device can be fully configured online, and its embedded PPPoE client is simple to activate for service providers and easy to connect without additional software for end users. The router also has an intuitive web-based graphical user interface (GUI), Corporate-Class security levels for business networks, and pre-configured settings for Application Level Gateways that make remote interactions with gaming systems and other applications simple. The modem has excellent transfer rates and handles simultaneous uploads and downloads very well. For business applications, the SpeedStream 4100 becomes a fast, efficient hub for communicating on a remote local area network (LAN) with main office computers far away, and can also be configured to connect a LAN to a wireless area network (WAN) via the Internet. This reliable Efficient Networks modem supports ADSL2, ADSL2+ and RE-ADSL standards to provide a flexible network solution for all types of applications. The Siemens modem also has rock-solid security features, including an ICSA-compliant Stateful Inspection Firewall with Denial of Service protection, to prevent unauthorized users from gaining access to established Internet connections and sensitive data. You don’t have to be an IT expert to setup a well-protected, secure network, using the SpeedStream 4100 DSL modem/router. The unit has a number of other strong security features business and home office users will love. The modem uses an Attack Protection System to defend against malicious attacks from external sources and Network Address Port Translation to keep the data from computers safe while source devices are connected to the Internet. Remote users can also establish Virtual Private Networks with corporate LANs and WANs using any of the three most-commonly used VPN protocols: PPTP, L2TP, and IPSec. This SpeedStream 4100 modem supports Windows Me / XP and later operating systems and has Universal Plug and Play (UPnP) support to automatically be discovered and configured by end devices. USB-ready devices can also connect directly to the Siemens SpeedStream 4100 modem/router using the convenient USB port on the back panel. Additional router functions increase the versatility of this simple-to-use DSL modem. DMZ support allows one computer on local networks to be configured to allow unrestricted 2-way communication with individual servers, making it possible to run programs that are incompatible with a firewall. The unit also has port forwarding and session tracking that eliminates manual configuration of FTP protocols and allows you to change IP addresses without affecting network access. The Siemens SpeedStream 4100 Ethernet DSL Modem is an excellent choice for standard network applications, with fast response times and security features that make it a reliable network controller for both business and home use.

  • Speedstream 4100 a solid choice

Siemens Speedstream 4100 modems are good except when you're paying $100 for them. I like to buy them slightly used for $10. I've only had one ( much earlier model ) go bad, the oldest one ( not a 4100 )I have has been in place 7-8 years now, still chugging. I really like Zoom ADSL bridge modems, though. I just got my VoIP up, getting ready to see how close it comes to good old analog over twisted pair.

  • when you have to have one, you won't be disappointed

These are configured for the AT&T DSL service and work seamlessly. That's no mean feat as when I purchased my orginal Speedstream for SBC's first DSL offering, there were a number of calls that had to be made, often flash changes to the unit, and a lot of patience. No longer; it's now plug and play, and my old one at 6 years still does the job. I got this spare as insurance and these are cheap. Here in Cal. you'll have to do a re-set when things seem to get really slow, about once every couple of years. About every half decade you'll be surprised that the data-voice splitter goes on the blink and gives false peripheries' use, but as you can see, these are pretty durable and simple to set up.

  • Most happy with this modem.

This was purchased to replace my initial speedstream modem as the dog chewed the power cord and shorted it out. In the meantime, ATT had sent a motorola modem out which was as slow as molasses in January. The speedstream 4100 works fantastically with high speed internet service, and I was happy to find a used speedstream unit in excellent condition to resume speedy internet action.

  • Modem is Great but ATT was Horrible

Nice little moden that worked perfect. I got it free when i switch to SBC DSL. Then ATT took over and my service started to suck. It was more the company then the Modem. So this will work fine...just make sure ATT isn't your DSL provider cause they SUCK!!
