My primary interest is fast wifi for linux systems. While this works with mass market OS's, Edimax chipsets are also supported in linux. I used this with a Raspberry Pi to create a wifi access point. I had hoped I could create a dual band AP but that didn't work out.

My laptop only has a 2.4 gHz adapter built-in, this gives me the 5 gHz band. It was easy to set up with Win7, and improves the wifi signal as expected. The design does cause it to block the adjacent USB port.

Despite the claims this DOES NOT IN ANY WAY support a modern version of Linux. There is no hope of it working with Ubuntu 18.04 or anything later. Not much hope of making it work with Ubuntu 14.04 even. A complete waste of money. Tech support from the manufacturer is non-existent.
