I'm very pleased with this tablet: it's extremely responsive, and I have yet to wait for anything. Text entry flows beautifully, making me more comfortable using this device for e-mail, etc. Delightfully, Dell has avoided filling these units with bloatware, so that I can just use the Android features and apps I really want rather than having a sluggish and unwanted "experience" foisted on me by the manufacturer, as I have seen on some other units. It's also lightweight, with plenty of memory, a good camera, and a good layout. So far it's been terrific with battery life, and unlike my old tablet, keeps almost all of its battery life when asleep. All of this is exactly what I need. However, I don't play games with this, or use it as my primary way of accessing the Internet, or really do anything heavy-duty on it at all. It runs Android 4.4.2, KitKat, and is not upgradable to Android 5, Lollipop, although its pricier sibling, the 7840 CAN run Lollipop (many sources on the Web don't realize the difference between the two, and I wish Dell had distinguished their names by more than model number). If you don't want to be stuck back in Android 4, this isn't the tablet for you. If, like me, you just want to do things like tasks, browsing the Web, watching videos, calendar, e-mail, social media, etc., you may love this tablet. Amazon also has a case I like very much for it by Fintie that sells for just $7.Read full review

I am a loyal Dell customer, having bought 3 Dell computers over the past 4 years. I am pleased with their functionality. With that being said, I am really disappointed with the Dell Venue tablet. The battery drains far too rapidly. After only an hour of usage the battery drains to below 50%. That's not good. Additionally, the Venue locks up during the course of everyday use. Every single time I've used the Venue, it has eventually locked up & shut down. That is not good. Lastly, a primary reason I bought the Venue and its 32GB HDD was to download some of my music library. Unfortunately, the Venue doesn't enable me to interface with my computer foe access to said music library. I consider this purchase a waste of my limited financial resources.
Although this unit is small, it does the work of a large one, convenience, and it does not cost an arm and a leg.

I bought this product as a Christmas present. I already had the Venue 8 for myself. This is a great tablet to use as a mini laptop, but since I was not thinking when I ordered it, having Windows 8 makes it next to impossible for game playing. The person I gave it to as a gift was wanting to play Clash of Clans and some others and guess what --- not on a Windows tablet. So, if you want this for internet browsing and shopping, it is great. Just know what you are looking for.
