This router was easy for me to set up. The coverage in my home is excellent. The interface was easy to work with. Changing security passwords was easy. I was even able to set up multiple wifi networks easily. There are easy to read screens that show who/what is connected to my network. Devices connect easily and perform much faster on the Peplink than they did on my old NetGear device. I live in a neighborhood with a lot of other wifi routers but I have no issues. I do wish they had added a port to connect a hard drive, but it should be easy enough to connect a NAS device.

Don't waste your time or money on flashy looking high end consumer units like the Netgear R8000's which claim to be secure but have more (obvious) holes in them than a Tetleys Tea bag :-) Welcome to my review, I'm an IT security specialist with 30 years under my belt. First up, this unit allows to to access and configure it purely from https in your web browser rather than http - this is a big deal, as anything sent over http can be easily seen by a bad actor or MitM attack - the Netgears don't even offer the option . . Second, this unit does not have the convenient but disastrously insecure WPA Pin wireless system on it, adding additional security. Thirdly, you can (and should) separate your Wireless network IP range from your local (or wired) devices IP range and this unit makes it easy. The benefit of this is that if someone does manage to access your wi-fi without permission, they're only going to see wireless devices and no core hardware (hopefully) :-) Now for the non techy stuff :-) The unit is easy to set up, sits neatly behind your current ISP supplied modem/router (even if you don't have a static IP) and creates a second NAT behind it relegating the traffic coming from your (insecure and almost certainly outdated) Modem/router supplied by your ISP to 'untrusted' status as it should be, giving you excellent protection from a wide range of bad actors, hackers and of course state sponsored snoopers. Finally, and like the high end comsumer units, the Pepwave offers the ability to control the types of websites visited (blocking pornographic or violent content for instance) and as it is not a 'mass market' device is relatively unlikely to be targetted by hacking 'Bots' which will always be written to attack mainstream products for maximum impact. So as I said at the beginning - if you're serious about security then buy one of these! If you just want to pose then the Netgears look cool and who cares if they leave your front door wide open?!!!Read full review

I have been using a Netgear R7000 which was a brand new router that bought almost a year ago. As I found out by using my Bitdefender Home Scanner that this Netgear is riddled with security holes from the http that CANNOT be corrected or fixed. Needless to say, I bought this new PEPWAVE Surf SOHO router and it works perfectly, there are no holes in the security in this item. The company provides a technician to help you install this new item. He was very polite and patient with me and the installation went fairly quickly. I am most happy with the results and how well this works. I have to go through three walls to get to my big screen TV with no problems. My bitdefender Home Security agrees with me also, there are no issues with this router AT ALL, NONE. No holes in the security of this item...Read full review

This is a professional level product that provides better security than your standard home router. It is missing the "guest network" feature but you can "build" that by enabling VLANs. It is probably not for the average home user.
