Its got great finish, pretty legible text and just looks ritzy. I have had a great time reading with this so far. Moreover a lot of these weren't used at all. You can get a 15 year old ereader that no one used. I get this feeling that mom and dad often tucked these away in their closets after their well meaning children left on december 26th. The flaw back when was its not a kindle. Today's flaw is its 15 years old and the ui is very clunky for 2022. Its also ever so slightly heavy because its aluminum and not plastic but that feels negligible to me. Oh and no wifi/bluetooth.

Sony prs505, new opened box Can't install the wizzard nor the eBook library. I can't install books from internet, cde-rom or computer. The screen has several horizontal and vertical stripes and the battery doesn't charge ( no battery ). So this e-reader is worthless.

The PRS-505 is a great little device. No touch-screen that newer e-readers have, but the buttons are simple and intuitive. Compared to most e-readers, it's a bit on the heavy side, but nothing you're likely to notice unless you're just particularly used to a lighter model. Its built-in 250MB storage sounds tiny, but that's a few hundred books. It has a built-in MP3 player for easy listening while you read, but if you want more than a couple songs, you might want to consider an SD card to expand its storage space. In addition to standard e-book formats, it's one of only a few readers that also display PDF, .doc and .txt documents, but uploading files to the system requires Sony's e-Library software; you can't load files directly to the reader via USB. In addition, it only has three magnification levels, and sometimes some error prevents it from displaying anything above the full page level. Still, for the price and the flexibility, not to mention the outstanding battery life (I can often go for days without plugging it in, and recharging takes less than an hour), I couldn't ask for a better deal.Read full review
Advantages: A good screen (compared to Sony T1 and this new generation, the quality of the screen is almost similar). Pretty quickly flipped through the pages. A metalic case (looks good, durable, but heavier book). Quality leather cover. Built SD and MS Card reader. Long battery life, the eyes did not get tired of reading, durable and soft to the touch, easy management, the ability to play audio))), several options turning pages, the ability to increase the font; Easy to replace the firmware and get any language + support fb2. Able to open the formats DOC and TXT - necessary to choose Unicode, when saving the files. I love it! After 3 years, the battery has to stay a little bit worse, but this is OK. Disadvantages: When reading PDF files slightly freezes. When you download some epub files - the book may goes to loop reboot. Just remoove the files, by using pc.Read full review
IMHO model long ago obsolete, but so far no one has done a better screen. ascetic design, durable aluminum body, large number of firmware upgrades, long battery life. Possible disadvantages: slowly indexes downloaded books, txt sometimes you have to wait 5 minutes but no problem with .epub or .lrf .The relatively low weight
