The LaCie Rugged 2TB Thunderbolt USB-C Portable Drive works fine and is very quiet. It did not heat up even after backing up two Macs. I could divide the drive into two partitions to be able to backup two Mac computers. Partitions can be renamed and can be sized differently, although I chose 1 TB each. Caution: Integrated Thunderbolt cable is Thunderbolt 2, not Thunderbolt 3 as is my new MacBook Pro. Luckily, it comes with a USB-C adaptor which plugs into the portable backup drive and will allow my Thunderbolt 3 laptop to connect, but at USB-C speeds...not at Thunderbolt 3 speeds. It still transferred data fast.
