The only complaint I have about it is that the workouts that I most often do - Zumba and Aqua Aerobics - aren't options under the workout types. It does tell me that it recognizes Zumba as cardio and Aqua Aerobics as swimming, but that still doesn't tell me what to choose for Zumba if I want to set the timer - running? walking? workout? I'm not sure. There are a few things I haven't figured out yet, but I've only been using it for a week. My 4yo grandson figured some things out for me! So maybe I just need to get him to teach me how to use it. It's a little bigger than I would prefer, too - kind of masculine - but I can live with the size. I love that I can monitor how I sleep each night, too, and that I can wear it in the shower if I choose.

The Ionic has a known problem of adding thousands of steps in minutes and support admits that the fix is replacement. Unfortunately Fitbit doesn't honor their warranty, even on new items, unless it is bought directly from them or their list of sellers. Even a brand new Fitbit Ionic isn't covered if it's bought on eBay. I found out the hard way when my Ionic went crazy and they said the only fix is replacement and they will send it right out with proof of where I purchased it. When I sent my eBay receipt, the said I was out of luck because I bought it on eBay. Unfortunately, mine was less than 60 days old, but more than the 30 days to get the warranty from eBay/PayPal. Don't let this happen to you. Don't buy Fitbit products from eBay unless you have proof that the seller is on Fitbit's list, even if it's a brand new item like my Fitbit Ionic is. Now it's garbage and money lost on a defective product. It's buyer beware, especially for the Fitbit Ionic which has this known issue and can't be fixed without replacement according to Fitbit support. Too bad, because I loved it until it went insane and started adding steps faster than any human can run. I was sitting at the time. I suggest that you find a different manufacturer with a good warranty on new products, no matter who sells them, or buy directly from Fitbit (from their website), especially since the Ionic is known to have this issue. I have read that resetting helps, but it doesn't work for my Ionic. It's a bad product, with a bad warranty and if you buy an Ionic on eBay or anywhere else that's not on their list, you will kiss your money goodbye very soon. Many have this issue right out of the box. Read full review

I previously owned the Fitbit Blaze. My first Blaze went kaput after a year. I got a replacement Blaze under a warranty where I still had to pay half of the price of a new one. (I had to laugh at the e-mail from Fitbit letting me know the "good news" about the warranty replacement. Then, I found the Ionic at a good price and got one. I think that Fitbit might have finally got it right. This is the one to get if you don't find its size. Now, I am not saying that it is perfect because I am still waiting for a digital watch face that has seconds. After looking through the options, I decided to use an analog clock face--the first time I have had an analog watch in many years. But, its okay. I can also easily scan through the steps, heart rate, etc.. way easier than with the Blaze. So, get this Fitbit and be happy. Read full review

The device itself and delivery were great. The existing apps are extremely useful and I find that the cycling-specific app is very accurate. I'm looking forward to apps being developed that will grab Bluetooth responses from my continuous glucose monitor (CGM) or, better yet, directly from the Bluetooth-enabled transmitter that sends the signal to my CGM. The development of the blood glucose monitoring app is dependent on a third party (Dexcom) and has nothing to do with Fitbit itself.

This may not be the best smart watch on the market, but it's definitely fitbit's best effort to date. Battery life is improved, you can now swim with it and there's some added smart features like loading music and a payment method. I wore the 'surge' prior to this watch and it's a nice step up and better looking. The best upgrade is the charging cable which used to cause me fits to get it to stay connected.
