This "Power Supply Tester IV" isn't from a known-brand manufacturer, but it is a sturdy tester that, well, just works. I tested a number of ATX power supplies the day it arrived, and it survived the long-term use with no glitches or issues. For the price, it is a good tool so far. And a must-have device for PC Techs.

The unit does a great job of displaying Voltages and that is very useful. However I tested 5 power supplies I knew were bad and only one reported bad via the tester. The reason is the tester only checks the voltage and NOT under any real load. If you have Voltage, you will always have Amps. The questions is how many Amps are available? The four other supplies that showed being good couldn't supply the Amperage needed. Further testing showed the current outputs ranged from 500mA to a few amps at best before the supply shutdown. This is why they failed in the computer they were removed from and replaced. For the most part this tester is one of a lesson learned.

This is a nice little device that helps troubleshoot a bad power supply and even warns if one is on the way to being junk. The LCD gives more information than older testers that just have a good/bad LED display. This will always be in my toolkit.
