I've already been using this software and think that it's great, but not for a beginner without a lot of help from books or someone already familiar with the software. Company tech support is good and there's a huge community out there of Photoshoppers so there's usually someone around to ask questions of if the software help section doesn't answer your question.

I bought Lightroom 3 because the Yosemite OS system on my Mac is considered old and and won't support a newer more advanced version of Lightroom. My old PC (system 8) however is compatible with Nikon NX Studio which is a free and a more capable program than Lightroom 3. So for simple editing I'll use Lightroom 3 on my Mac and for more involved editing I'll use Nikon NX Studio on my PC.
