The big difference with other photoframe is - this is WIRELESS photoframe. That is the reason why I selected this item although somewhat expensive than common digital photoframes. 1. Pros - I can upload my photos from my laptop to : flickr, google picasa, Kodak photoshare whenever I upload my photos, the digital frame gets new pictures from those sites. 2. For whom? - If you want to share your children's photo with grandparents, this would be a good solution. You can upload photos in CA, and grandparents can see the photos in NY without turning on the computer. 3. Cons (1) The software is terribly slow, and it does not support Mac. Once you setup the photoframe after buying it, you need not use the software again. This software is used when you setup network connection. Just upload your photos to google, flick using your web browser. (2) Resolution is 800 x 480. This is not 16:9, this is not 4:3, this is not 6:4. The aspect ratio is not a common one. For the best visibility, you have to crop the picture before upload it. Of course, the photoframe will display larger pictures by moving it. But it is not the best way. (3) Supports only wiress. You have to have a wireless router to utilize wireless function. Without the wireless function, this item becomes just a expensive, common digital photoframe. Of course you can use a memory card instead of using wireless function. (4) Rebooting Sometimes, the photoframe reboots by itself. There are a lot of complain on it in Amazon or other sites. However, I think (only think, no evidence, I CANNOT guarantee!) this problem happens when wireless communication is not good. When I use huge wireless traffic from my laptop, the frame cannot get enough data from my router, and it reboots. In the daytime when I do not use my laptop, my wife said there was no rebooting at all. This rebooting will happen when your router is not good condition. When it reboots, leave it. It will begin displaying again in about 10 sec. In worst case when your router is not working for any reason, the frame will go to the first menu page. Some people can easily switch the setup to memory card, but some people will feel difficulty. (5) Quality of LCD Average or below average. Hey Kodak, if you spend few more dollars on each frame, you can make much better photoframe. (6) First setup can be difficult. For grandparents who have no helper, it may be too difficult to setup the network and connection. Need someone who are familiar with wireless setup. 4. Conclusion - If you do not need wireless function, buy other frames. - You can enjoy photos from google picasa, flickr, Kodak easyshare. Uploaded photos will be displayed in the photoframe which is far away. - Need someone who are familiar with wireless setup.Read full review
Kodak W1020 replaces the MomentoLive that went out. We tried HP Dreamscreen before we got it, this blows Dreamscreen away, there is no comparison at all. I am a programmer by day so a $20 frame that you have to manually load photos to it is not what I am after. I want a photo frame that will stream new photos over the air wihout any intervention. With that said, the best feature is that it support FrameChannel, you can customize what contents you like to stream to your frame. In my case, I have a customized photo RSS feed to serve families photos, weather, news, along with facebook photos, you can choose who you'd like to be included in the stream or all of your friends. Dreamscreen wasn't even able to connect to facebook. It can also stream photos from a computer, so that's definitely a plus. The frame response a bit slow at times like other reviewer had mentioned but it's not bad at all. I haven't played with streaming music as I am after a photo frame not a mp3 player. All and all, I am very happy with it.Read full review
I read as many reviews as possible, then selected this frame for the overall image quality other users commented on. The brightness, clarity, contrast and overall photo presentation are GREAT! It is not the easiest to set up...yet the pictures are superb making the programming challenges worth it. I chose a remanufactured one and I have no doubt that it is as good if not better than a new one....at 1/2 the price. I used a sd disk with aroung 650 photos as the basic setup....will add more later. This size frame seems ideal for most applications. We have ours in the bathroom and it sure starts the day out right when you watch family, vacations and other memories flash by as you get ready to go out and do battle with the world.
I have experience none of the complaints that I read about the unit. The wireless feature especially when used with FLICR is very good. With FLICR I am able to create sets which cannot be done on the unit internal memory or from card or USB.
This is my first digital frame. I liked this frame features like wireless connection, news & weather , extra memory and build in memory. In addition to all of above the ease of install and use. Definitely, I'm going to buy some more of that frame.
