I actually have 2 of this exact same model. Both are workhorses that have never let me down. Seagate is a well known product. I use one for long term archive storage and the other is my dual boot system disk: both XP and Windows 7 ultimate. Plus it also holds 2 other partitions 1 for short term archive and 1 for current working storage. . 100,100,200,300G respectively. . I have noticed these drives do tend to be a little noisier than my maxtor drive. For me it doesn't bother that much, but for some; they may not like it. I refer to it as drive chatter when in heavy use such as transferring large 4G files like dvd's. I have noticed that without the jumper in 3G Sata II mode, they are noisier than when strapped/jumpered in the 1.5G config. In reality, I truly haven't noticed much difference in performance between the 2 modes. Startup, Seek, and Read/write times are nearly identical between modes. Both modes appear to be extremely fast compared to my old Maxtor and Western digital IDE drives. Would I buy 1 of these again if needed? Yes! Without any hesitation! . Well back to work. Transferring/editing 50yr old 8mm family home movies to computer and then disk. Still have over 120hrs of raw footage left to do. So, Happy Computing to all!Read full review
Installed easily, is fast, and easily configurable. I purchased this drive as a secondary drive for storage of video and other graphic files over several western digital drives.. I've always had good luck with Seagate drives, whereas I've had a Western Digital die after only 2 years.. Still want to get family photos off of that drive also..
Quite, fast, cheap for the amount of space, also heavy and very well built. Quick seek, handles large file transfers easily.
it work great, a lot of space for me, i can store lots of videos, data, im very happy and satisfied about this hard disk, compare to the ide access very fast for info, and you use another connections to connect to the computer, so u can have sata and ide, and that better
This is another quiet and well performing drive from Seagate. I bought this one used, and it still purrs like a kitten. I highly reccommend Seagate hard drives to anyone looking to upgrade their system or obtain more reliable storage room.
