You can use a 1290 battery also for longer run times. To use software you really need a Win 7 or newer machine. It will NOT run on older WinServer 2003 systems. Other (Cyber type Power brands) manufacturers still support older O/S's.

This UPS puts out a very minimal PWM bipolar pulse in place of the 120 VAC sine wave from the wall outlet. The energy in the PWM pulses is only about 70% of that of the equivalent sine wave, meaning that any unit powered by it (even at very light loads) is essentially in a state of continuous brown-out. In other words, plug in a 20 watt lamp and switch off the primary power. The light output will drop in half or more. If I had bought the unit new, I would have sent it back. However, I bought it used and at a MAJOR discount off list. As such, it serves its minimal purpose and I have it in service at this time.

I bought one of them, ordered a new OEM battery and tested it - needed to maintain power to Verizon FiOS ONT. It's about 20-40W. Unit performs as expected, everything worked great, ordered another one with a larger battery to maintain the modem and Vonage adapater.
