I bought this game recently (2006) in order to complete my WipEout collection, because now I have every game in the series (including Pure for PSP). This, obviously, is the first WipEout game ever made. Compared to the 3rd one, which is insanely difficult due to an actual programming glitch (see my review of that game for more info), I thought this one would be significantly easier. However, my hope for a more "pick-up-and-play" style game was pretty much dashed. Now people will question my gaming skills, etc. for saying this, but yeah, you'll have to dedicate a little time into this game to get any real enjoyment out of it. It's an older game, yes, but don't discount the challenge it brings. If you're a fan of the WipEout series, this game is a must-own. The music is top-notch, the graphics are good (although the ships look a LOT more generic compared to WipEout XL and Wip3out), and the gameplay is very good too. Buy it if you can find it for cheap.Read full review
Wipeout may not have invented future style reaching games but it set the bar pretty high. Even today it's tracks require speed and skill to get around.

Great game, even so many years later. It's a challenge to fly the ship to music that is still cool- timeless game. Of course, the graphics are a bit dated but hey, the game is fun and who cares! My 7yr old loves it, and it's weird to watch him play the game I played so many years ago. Cool beans.
Most of the copies of this game for sale are "greatedt hits" variant, I am happy to have the original box. Manual has slight water damage but otherwise excellent condition! Thank you.

I played this game when I was in high school. I Loved it!!! So, I purchased it for my five year old son...He plays it all the time. I like how the game give you total control of the aircraft. The music is great and the programming is awesome!!!!
