Motorola Xoom is one of the best tablets available on the market, featuring great performance, an efficient user interface and a good multimedia experience. However, the software is still a bit unstable, I had a few applications crash with error messages, the Facebook app for instance (which is buggy on Froyo as well) – but this could be the responsibility of the app developer, not Android or the device manufacturer. Hopefully things will get better with the next update. Personally, I prefer the iPad 2 for the design, the better user experience (with the exception of the disappointing camera) and the lower price. But others may prefer the Xoom for its customization capabilities, the ability to access Flash content in the browser, voice input for search and typing, the superior quality of the camera (software and hardware)& the higher screen resolution.Read full review
This tablet does everything I need it to. Video chatting across platforms, not being limited to Mac OS/iOS users. Honeycomb Android 3.0 looks absolutely stunning and runs extremely smooth with the Dual Core Tegra 2 Processor. Games and multitasking are smooth and look beautiful as well. The Android Market has a limited amount of tablet applications but the Xoom is the first and only Honeycomb tablet out right now, so it's partially justifiable. Battery life is great, the HD display is crystal clear, the front and rear camera's are decent so don't expect them to replace your current point and shoot camera. Video chatting is seamless on Google Talk and the widgets are very useful and smooth as well. Overall a 8/10 in my opinion. Price is a little high as well so a - for price and a - for the lack of applications.Read full review
This item was overall working good except for the card reader slot, tried from 4,8,16 and 32 GB SD card and no one was read, both cameras were working in a properly way, made a video demo and was good, I had to connect the table to transfer a movie to see how the video was working, well, didn't have video application I have had installed one in order to test it, pixels are good, good video, Bluetooth was connected good, but couldn't make it work with the video sound or listen music tru them, battery is good, almost 10 hours, couldn't connect my At&t Sim card to test the phone version. connect to internet very easy and quick.
Well, I should have listened to all the reviews. I received the upgrade to Android 3.1 the day I turned my XOOM on. Overall, a very nice toy. Yes, it's just a toy. I was really hoping to be able to use the USB connection to add the extra needed storage and, just like all the other reviews state - it just plain does not work. Many games, not only are not in the 10.1 format and have poor resolution, many, only give you a screen size of a cell phone. I do enjoy Angry Birds though. My daughter has the iPad 2, and I must say, the picture quality of the XOOM is much better - BUT, she gets Netflix and I don't. Google really needs to get the Android OS up to par with Apple.
I've had this Xoom for about a week and I've very happy with it, but for a few minor things. It looked like in the promo's on video I have seen, that it worked with Skype video calls. It does do voice chat but no video. It offers something called IGoogle chat for video chat. Learning this was very disappointing to me. Still I am pleased with the overall operation of this unit. It still has glitches with some of the apps such as FaceBook, to me just going to FB on the browser does a better job than the fb app. These are minor complaints this table is fast and works very well, battery lasts about 10 hours which seems to spin by fast because your having so much fun on it. Even Ipad had glitches too such as no flash support, thats why I recommend the Xoom over the Ipad. I'm sure at some point fully functioning Skype (with video support) will become available soon, at least I hope so.Read full review
