Ghost Recon for Gamecube. Great value used in box but no book. I am just starting to play the game - not very agile as I am over 40! Interesting game, not up to the PS2 or X360 my son has but fun for this old man. Graphics compared to today's games is obviously lacking, sound is good. I expect gameplay to be fine after I get up to speed and understand the controls. Realistic situations, good weapon selection, sniper mode is cool. Nice way to have some battlefield/situational conflicts without leaving the easy chair and my cold drink. Time will tell, but I'll get some enjoyment out of it.
I really dig Tom Clancy Games and the Rainbow Six series. I like first person tactical shooters, the indoor environments and the close quarters. Well I thought to myself, what about a first person tactical outdoor war game, that has to be entertaining at the least. I played and beat it one player and it was just that, entertaining. I then called a friend to do a co-op campaign. Well much to my chagrin, you can only do co-op in single mission multiplayer mode. What's the deal with that. We romped for hours in the N64 version of R6 and beat 50 times, we even conquered the elite levels. Well, here is the scenerio, play one co-op level, defeat it only to be brought back to the level select screen. Which reminds me of why I beat it on single player to begin with. YOu can only do multiplayer of levels you've already beat. That, in my opinion, is just flat out dumb. The lack of Co-op campaign hurts the lasting appeal and the realism of the game but it is still a blast to sneak around, develop strategies and cover each other. It is even fun to tell your buddy, "hey, I will cover you." Only to pop him twice, once in the leg to slow him down and once in the dome to put him out. FUN! Visuals: The outdoor levels, in my opinion, look pretty darn realistic and allow uses of different thicknesses of trees and brush as cover. They are by no means breath taking, but they really give the feel of being there stuck outdoors hunting and being hunted. The player models aren't bad, they, again, just aren't great either. People complained that you can't see your targets, well thats the whole point of camoflage, isn't it? I thought that was one of the best parts of this game, you have to scout everything and the camo and backgrounds really blend together, even with your own teammates. Pretty cool actually causes many a startling kill from guys you never saw. The huge problem with the graphics is the animation. When an enemy player is up close he moves fine, but you get one lined up at 200 yards and all of a sudden he moves choppier than a stick figure flip book animation. It makes it hard to line up a shot do to the fact that they move 50 yards left, in 5 frames of animation. Really weak, but if your a good shot they wont even start running. Graphics overall are a mixed bag, good enough to get the job done but could have been way, way better to enrich the special force war experience. The mid-level cut scenes are well done graphically although they are very short. Sorry no progressive scan either. AUDIO: In my opinion this is where Ghost Recon shines. It's strange that a game with very little sound other than creeks babbling, leaves rustling, footsteps and of course gunshots being fired have the ability to cause such an intense feeling of being alone in woods. It becomes very intense when your on your belly crawling to the top of a ridge to get a sniper shot, you can see the guy you want but you want to move one more yard forward, your lining him up, it's silent, your getting ready to pull the trigger and then BAM, BAM, BAM. Your left rear speaker is thumping, you hear "man down!!" enemies at 7 O'clock, you turn to get him and then BAM! Now it's the same speaker but the only difference is it's the guy that you had in your scope and left there not to mention the front center speaker is going to due shots being fired in front of you. The Dolby Pro Logic II really brings this game to life. Especially when crawling by the tanks or when an ambush comes and all speakRead full review
Great product, runs just as well as I remember when I was a kid. Graphics are absolutely horrible, but that's to be expected with an old game like GR.

Ghost recon is the first in the Ghost Recon Series. About a elite U.S. Army Ranger unit that call themselves the (GHOST). Compared to the other games i've played along the same lines. this one is my Favorite. I would recondimed it.
