I'm into classic empire building games. I originally purchased the classic Red Alert series and expansion packs. I noticed every time I purchased one of those games here on ebay, Age of Empires was suggested for me. I finally gave in and bought level one. Wound up buying all levels plus the expansion packs. This game is addicting. It's a bit slow paced, that's why I gave 4 stars not 5.

This is a good game for a fair value... The only issue I have with the disc setup for this game is that the sound track does not play while you are in the game... They included the sound track with the game, but it does not function inside the game itself... I found this to be very irritating, especially since the song that I like the most (from the conquerors expansion) is not included on the sound track. Aside from that, I greatly enjoyed this game as much ever. It continues to be a classic that remains fun, as is, throughout the ages... As some would say, its "An oldie, but a goodie" ;) As a side note: You do have to install each game individually... It took me a while to figure that out
I purchased this for nostalgic reasons. I was in the mood to place an RTS style game but nothing was cutting it compared to the Age of Empires series. After playing through the most recent AoE III and not having the original two anymore, I decided to make the purchase. I'm so glad I decided that! AoE is arguably one of the best RTS series out there. I played many hours of this when I was younger as well as recently with AoE III and AoE Online. I have already started playing the original AoE and can't wait to submerse myself in it further and then work my way through the second along with the expansions. If you are looking for a great series of games, I would highly recommend this!
This game is not a new one but still one of the best. We've tried AoE III, but it so unnecessarily heavy and less user friendly in term of commands. We still prefer this basic and AoE II with expansion - they are much more user friendly, and play well on home network. It has now become a classic in our family where every member will now have their own copy to practice during the year for our annual match with a minimum of 8 people split in 2 to 3 war rooms so those less experienced can have advice from the pros! Too bad Microsoft doesn't make it available to download on their game site anymore. This is still the best non gory empire development game with a choice of collaboration or confrontation and great resource distribution. AoE II with expansion: always the best!
Awesome it runs great on my Acer laptop and I love this old game I used to play all the time...Thanks so much!!!!!
