First let me say that I have been watching Star Trek since I was a little kid in the early 70's. I've seen the series, the movies, and have even been to conventions. I remember buying my first Star Trek Game, or what was supposed to be a Star Trek Game, at Sears for the old Atari 2600. It was basically a star field comprised of little X's and O's where you hunted around for enemy ships by warping in and out of little mazes and firing torpedoes. Even though that game had little in the way of graphics or sound, was in mostly one color, and reminds me today of reading map coordinates, I'd still give that game a better review than Star Trek Shattered Universe. Star Trek Shattered Universe is basically the game version of the classic Star Trek Episode Mirror Mirror. Captain Sulu, in command of the USS Excelsior, responds to a distress call from the USS Enterprise commanded by Captain Checkov. It is reported that he is being drawn into an anomaly and the Excelsior responds to help. Naturally, the Excelsior is caught and transported to a Universe that is reversed where the Federation is evil and so forth. You, as a faceless fighter pilot, must now defend the Excelsior, fly missions, and shoot down lots of fighters. Star Trek Shattered Universe is TDK Mediactive's attempt at a space fighter game. You get to fly lots and lots of star fighter missions and get to upgrade to better ships as the game progresses. Some of the CG scenes are quite nice, the sound effects are pretty good, and a number of the capital ships (Enterprise etc) look sharp. None of this saves the game from an overall average experience. This game does nothing different than any other space fighter game out there. Actually, some older games, like Colony Wars for the Playstation 1 console, are quite a bit better. The game play is slow and sometime silly and the story line is extremely tired. Many of the missions don't make sense and just when you think you've completed a twenty minute mission an extra mission is thrown in with a short time limit. The voice over work done by Takei and Koenig are also forgettable. For true fans of Star Trek, Shattered Universe may be enjoyable for a while, but this isn't a game you will complete and come back to. In the end this game is just another bland Star Trek Franchise release that will leave fans still hoping for a game worthy of their years of support and devotion.Read full review

Gameplay is bland and repetitive. Production quality is very poor. There are frustrating difficulty spikes 13 minutes into a 15 minute long mission.

Bought the 2 Star Trek games together, Both are Great, I already had Conquest but it’s such a Great game my original CD was scratched from over using it. Glad to have a spare

Star Trek games are generally fun. Typical space kind of fight. But the game does a poor job of getting to the point of what needs to be done. Idea of game is cool, but the game is just average at best.
