These little speakers are amazing. How you can get such great sound out of something for 15 bucks is a miracle. This is one of the best bargains I've found ever. I especially like that they plug into a USB port and there's no bulking AC power adapter to deal with. These things are rock solid. Buy and you WILL NOT be disappointed. Thank you seller from the bottom of my heart!!! By the way, I LOVE these speakers!!!

They actually look decent, and with the tall thin design take up very little desk space. Unfortunately, they aren't quite as good sounding as many other reviews led me to believe. Volume is decent but not close to powerful, and sound quality is decent as long as you don't crank them up. At peak volume distortion becomes obvious. If you're looking for something at minimal cost (I paid $13 incl. delivery) and don't demand a lot of power or super clarity, they're not an awful solution. Just don't have high expectations. The USB power, instead of an AC plug, is definitely a plus.

I am an electronics engineering technician.....The Dell model A225 Amplified Computer Speaker set is an excellent standard speaker set choice for anyone who wants a good general-purpose sound combined with compactness in design. The units occupy very little desktop space -- with each speaker housing approximately 2.5" width, 6.75" height, and 2.5" depth. The DC operating voltage to the speaker's internal audio amplifiers is obtained by the included USB 2.0 cable -- with the speaker set's internal audio amplifiers operating off of the USB cable's 5-volt DC source. The A225 Dell speaker set is actually manufactured for Dell by an outsourced electronics firm called Zylux Acoustic Corporation. The actual speaker elements used inside the speaker cases are 10-ohm, 3-Watt devices with 2-inch round paper cones and with a good-sized permanent magnet measuring approximately 1 3/8" in diameter by 5/8" depth. The speaker elements have square, metal frontal mounting surfaces with four holes at each corner. This accommodates four frontal mounting screws to mount the speaker elements inside the plastic housings. The right-side speaker housing contains the internal audio amplifier circuit which is a simple mini, dual-chip stereo power amplifier -- one audio chip for "left" audio and one for "right" audio. The audio amplifier IC's are San Jing Corporation audio power chips with part number: SJ2822M. Briefly, these audio power IC's are "dual-power" chips -- that is, they connect each speaker element in a BRIDGE-TIED-LOAD (BTL) output configuration. Thus, the power chips not only amplify, but also transform the "single-ended" audio output from a typical desk-top/lap-top computer into a balanced BTL speaker output providing two distict electronic advantages -- (1) quadruple the output power of a typical complimentary symmetry power amplifier chip, and (2) elimination of output coupling capacitors, thus widening the low-end (bass)frequency response delivered to the speaker elements. The input audio to the stereo amplifier board is provided via a generously-long audio cable equipped with a standard 1/8" stereo audio "phone" connector (color-coded "green" indicating a connection to a computer's standard "front" speaker audio output jack). The A225 amplified speaker set (in my opinion) provides a good, loud output when a typical input of 10mW (milliwatt) maximum per channel is applied to its input from a computer as its audio input source. The units have perfectly acceptable acoustic quality as far as GENERAL PURPOSE listening -- eg. sound from videos on, perhaps, YOUTUBE/DVD movies. Don't expect too much as far as listening to music -- remember, 2" speakers do not constitute a high-fidelity sound system. If you want a amplified speaker system intended for high-quality music playback, either purchase a computer sound system intended for that, or do what I do -- run a audio patch cable from my computer to my JVC 25-watt per channel mega boom-box (8-inch woofers) via the box's AUXILLIARY AUDIO INPUT CONNECTION, and you will RATTLE YOUR WALLS and Jam like a wild dog. (I'm not kidding.) Finally, be careful about purchasing this product on auctions where the seller states that the product is "NEW" because the unit may be a factory QC reject and have minor anomalies associated with it. Keep in mind that if these speakers are operating properly, they sound really good. So if you buy these off of an auction, and they don't sound right, TAKE 'EM BACK!!!Read full review
I have this speaker for my old Dell desktop for years. Initially, I wasn't going to buy a speaker for my current Dell computer. However, I said to myself, "Why not?". It doesn't mean that I won't be using the old speaker ever again. I would be better off using the current speaker instead of just having one speaker that has been in my possession for years.
The speakers replace the original ones that "died" on my Dell computer. They are not top end speakers, but sufficient for the uses of my older tower computer. If you are into high end music listening, etc. on your computer they probably would not do. But I am very happy with these inexpensive, and easy to set up speakers.
