My understanding is that this is difficult to get working (if not impossible) and windows 8 and above. So it probably isn't for you if you're not running windows 7 or below. On windows 7 this can still be a real pain to get functioning properly. It tends to conflict With other hardware. What I did to get it working was to disable all other wireless adapters (the one I had previously and the one inside my computer that came with it). This was after messing around with a lot of other supposed fixes that didn't work. Such as re-downloading drivers from online (instead of installing them from the disc that comes with it). Changing the channel that the card works on. Going through some machine settings changing true false values. At the end of the day this adapter simply doesn't play well with others. So it's best to run it solo. That said. Now that it is working. It's working great. I see 3-5 times the number of networks as I did before. And virtually all of them show as good to excellent for signal quality (full bars). My connections to my usually networks are a lot faster than with other adapters. And a lot more stable. The RaLink interface for the card is nice. It shows me connectivity in a percentage value. Along with thing like the channel that connection is on. Statics and up/down speed. It's convenient little control panel that is much nicer to work with than the default windows task bar one. If it were not for the difficulty in actually getting it working (it really is a headache and what worked for me may not work for you). And that it is kind of garish looking and cheap feeling... I could easily give it 5 stars. It's just a bunch of little things that you can work past or get over that makes me not want to give it a full 5 star rating. But it is very impressive for the price.Read full review

These don't work correctly, they've got to be the most unstable modules I've ever worked with. In monitor mode they usually don't see a single bssid or SSID. and then sometimes they work fine but it's so unreliable that you can't count on it to work. and it's too bad because they do have a decent range of fairly good at packing injection just the Linux kernel sees them as being unstable I'm not making this up I'm going by what Linux is declaring them asI've tried them on six different systems all different kinds of hardware configurations on 6 systems no 2 systems are alike or similar. These Wi-Fi modules all had the same problem on every single set up

I was using an Alfa AWUS036H 1000mw with an Alfa R36 router mode with an outdooor 24dbi antenna. My wifi was very weak (1 - 18 Mb/s). I have a lot of trees to go through to get to my wifi source. After installing this AWUS036NH my signal jumped to 26 - 58 Mb/s. Much faster loading speeds. Great value! Awesome performance!
