I've tried all sorts of cases for my iPad Air 2; from ZAGG to Logitech, to name brands I cannot pronounce. This model, though great quality with its metal hinge and thick plastic casing, has a noticeable "pause" whenever it's activated from opening the case. It has the sleep/wake function, which is good, but you have to wait for the keyboard to activate. The Logitech canvas case I have, takes no time at all to do this, and it will stay activated while the case is open; but it's too flimsy. ZAGG is similar to this case I'm reviewing (Air bender), with a noticeable pause before using its keyboard. Typing is similar to the ZAGG, it's a wonder if they used the same keyboard manufacturers. My ONLY complaint is the pause whenever the keyboard activates; and it will deactivate if you don't use it for a short while. The Logitech didn't do this at all; it's ready until you close the lid. The Air bender rotating hinge is made of metal, stiff, and seem tough. Only time will tell....Read full review

Hard case and tight fit make this a great cover with all ports easily available. But the features are lacking in execution: tougher than imagine hinge removal, hard to open stand, noisy & awkward feeling keys, no backlit, flimsy rubber latch, and overall "cheap plastic" feel. I only recommend this because it works to its purposes, but just doesn't feel like a long term solution.

Very sturdy construction! For our needs for business use, this fine addition of a combo keyboard and case is perfect. Very simple to place iPad in holder, with full 360 turning radius showing intake client what you are doing before saving info is nice. Also the full flip over to use iPad as a touch screen only, is perfect, but if need be, tablet case cover can be slid off keyboard and never has to leave the protective cover!!! nice options , Good product, Good Quality..

Again, New Trent has come up with some interesting innovations for some persistent case complaints. This case to me is basically a clamshell case on steroids. Clamshell cases you can typically just open and close like a laptop. The biggest complaint with this style of case is the fact that it is really tippy and when you touch the iPad, you can knock over the whole thing. New Trent has solved this complaint by including a stabilization bar which you can swivel around to keep the case more stable while you are working. The screen can rotate around and lay flat on the keyboard which is a great feature because it allows you to keep the case together and yet "hide" the keyboard so it is used more like an actual tablet. This is something we've seen for awhile, but it is still a nice feature. The other new innovation in this case is the method that you are able to separate the keyboard from the iPad. Previous solutions I have seen involved a clamp in the middle of the case that supports the iPad itself and this solution is prone to breaking. The new solution on this case involves a switch on the back of the case that allows you to slide the iPad away from the keyboard. This seems like it may be more sturdy, but of course, time will tell. Once concern with this case is it has those typical little rubber tabs that are meant to hold the iPad case closed. It's not easy to get that little tab fully into the hole and once you do get it there, it's pretty hard to pull it back out. Right now, the hinge is tight enough that you wouldn't even need that tab. It's possible over time though that the tab may become more necessary as the hinge loosens up. The other concern of course is longevity and I have not had the case long enough to comment on whether or not the different mechanisms will hold up. One definite plus with this case is the method of detaching the iPad from the keyboard. I could imagine that the little switch may break, but even so, there is enough friction between the two different parts of the case that would still allow you to use the case even if that little switch broke. While I still have not found "the perfect case" for a reasonable price point. This case is a great contender. Full disclosure: I am part of a program that provides samples of cases at a discounted rate. The program specifies that I need to provide an unbiased and honest review of the product. The discounted rate on the product has not influenced my opinions on its performance.Read full review

Comes with keyboard, ipad case, USB charging cable and instructions on the back of the box. The keyboard has higher keys, reminisence of a traditional laptop/desktop keyboard. There's 4 rubber bumpers on the bottom of the keyboard that grips and prevents sliding. This ipad case can be set up just like a laptop. The hinge connector allows for the ipad to stay in almost any almost any position easily, but once you go well past perpendicular, you will need to pull out the metal stand to help support the weight of the ipad to keep it from tipping over. The outer case is made of a plastic which is very sturdy and should withstand some rough handling. If you don't want to use the keyboard. it's very easy to remove the ipad from the hinge just by pressing the tab on the back of the ipad portion or you can keep it on and just twist the ipad on top of the keyboard. The top of the case allows for 360 rotation so you can swing your ipad to show others your display when needed,i.e., you're sitting at a table and need to show someone your monitor. When closed, there's a little rubber locking tab to keep the unit from opening up. The fit of this case is very snug and it will take some effort to get your Ipad out of the case. This is actually a good thing, since it won't slip out on it's own. There are brightness keys on this keyboard that makes it easier to adjust than accessing on the Ipad. Since the Ipad was a school requirement for us, a keyboard/case was included in the package. We're using a Belkin model and it has a metal case with no rubber bumpers and a rubber ipad cover. After a year now, the Belkin has already shown heavy wear on the bottom of the keyboard case and you can see the black paint has worn down where you can see the silver metal showing through now in the four corners. Overall, this NewTrent keyboard and case is far superior to the Belkin case in flexibility and will probably outlast the Ipad's lifespan. This Newtrent NT55B is our preference for a keyboard and case combo unit. I received a discount on this product in exchange for an unbiased and honest review.Read full review
