Great positive feel :-)
Over the past 25+ years I've worn out 6 or 7 keyboards. In hindsight none of them were really great keyboards - Logitech, Dell, Acer and another brand of no great significance. Some were close to $100, others were in the $50 range. What I missed most was the "positive feel" that I enjoyed with my electric typewriters - yes, I'm an old gopher. My son put me onto mechanical keyboards, saying that they were the best for gaming. Of course I don't "game", but I decided to check them out online. Das Keyboard was the one maker of mechanical keyboards that kept appearing at the top of all of the reviews, when the review included a Dad Keyboard. Then I had to look up "cherry" switches and found that there are 3 colors of cherry mechanical switches with varying "sounds". I opted for the ... I opted for the brown cherry switches as they are about as close to silent as one can get, yet I still get a small sound when the keys bottom out :-) I like it!!! Well, what do I like about my Das Keyboard Professional S Brown Cherry keyboard? The keys are cupped nicely so that my fingertips fit into them very comfortably. Not only is there the identifying "bump" on the "J" key, but also there is one on the "F" key - a very nice feature that confirms correct hand positioning very quickly. The stroke pressure is even across the keyboard - not too much and not too sensitive - just right in my books. It is also a full-size keyboard which is wonderful for my large hands. The weight of the keyboard is very reasonable and stays place for me - some of the lightweight membrane keyboards were a real nuisance for me from time to time. I've had my Das Keyboard for over a month now and have gotten to the point where I feel very comfortable with it. I do have to be careful and keep an eye on what I type as I've got some nerve damage and I tend to drag my left little finger and enter the occasional unwanted "a" here and there. Other than a "personal" issue, I have found no fault with my keyboard. Yes, the Das Keyboard Professional S Cherry Brown is more expensive than the membrane type keyboards (or whatever you call them), but it is head and shoulders above them all when it comes to comfort and ease of use. Is it worth the additional money? In my books, "YES!" My only regret is that I did not know about them sooner.

Please excuse my incomplete thoughts and lack of follow through on my sentence. Just wanted to key this out there. Don't really care how well put together this is. I purchased this mechanical keyboard because it is good. I have the version where on the left hand side there is Control, Function, Windows, and Alt keys. This is the version I bought and the version I personally like. I use this this keyboard mainly with macOS and I remap the Alt key to be Command and the Windows key to be Alt. Where the Alt key sits on the keyboard is similarly positioned as the Command key on the Macbook keyboard so it makes the feel very natural and pleasant to me. Plus at work i use a keyboard where the Alt key is right underneath the "x" key and it makes going between work and home computers very ... The profile is a bit bulky especially where the two usb ports are. I'm not fond of the new versions where the left hand side only has the Control, Windows, and Alt keys (at least that's what it looks like to me on the website because they have the pictures of the old and new versions of the keyboard). I'm not sure of the key layouts but if it's the new layout, I'm not happy that they replaced the Windows key with the Function key on the right hand side. When I work on Windows I use the Control, Windows, and arrow keys to move between spaces and the fact that they took it out is quite a shame. I haven't tried the new ones though so I don't know if the Function key doubles up as a Function key and Windows key. If you go with this keyboard I don't know if aftermarket replacement keys will work with this. I bought a used one and the keys have gotten this shiny to it because of the previous owner and my oily fingers. If you get the version I got, you're kind of stuck with the original keys unless you find a good alternative. If you do let me know. I particularly like the this version (ctrl, fn, win, alt key on left hand side and alt, win, menu, ctrl on right hand side). If DAS makes them again I'll consider buying a new one.

Great keyboard
This keyboard is great. Very basic design, function key for sleep and audio control. No software needed just plug and play. Uses a usb port as well as a PS2 port, however it comes with a PS2 to USB adapter in case your motherboard doesn't have a PS2 keyboard port or is damaged.
