Once I received and had chance to carefully evaluate I found a big flaw: this two part set is hardwired to independently and cannot be added to existing router as mesh points. Unifi does sell a "standalone" Instant Router that is for all purposes the same as that which comes in this set but can be installed as a mesh point. Frankly, I'm rather disappointed in Unifi. "Standalone" router and router in the set should both be the same.

I purchased this mesh system as a low prices alternative to the nest or orb8 system . So far it has definitely lived up to it's advertised standards. It works flawlessly and I'm very happy I chose to buy it.

First off - You need to have an Amplifi router, I can not say if it will work with other systems. In my case it started right up, and is providing additional signal strength to my mesh network, as well as another hardwire remote output - which I use for streaming just fine.
