I purchased the game to finish the platinum trophy I gave up on 6 years ago. The game is gross, so if you're into creepy and gross, you will probably like it. Unlock the original splatterhouse 1,2,&3. Game is linear. It's a beat um up. Single player. Weapons and lots of special moves to unlock.

Got it mainly to play original game(s), but they aren't unlocked until beating story mode, which i havnt done yet. Have only played once n just bout beat it, so is not hard. Would rate higher if i could play originals from start.

Graphics-84/Sound-88/Controls-82/Blast Force-85/Overall=85 Splatterhouse takes everything that was great about fantasy and reality of American 20th Century culture and throws in a bunch of indecent 21st Century elements like sexual video game content, and obscene amounts of gore and profanity. The story is a bit dramatic, almost reeling in our inner geek, as we empathize with Rick and cling to the hope of saving Jennifer. We guys, the target audience, are taught that women are sexy, and we should marry them if we really like and care about them...and that's pretty much where the traditional thematic elements end as the terror mask sucks Rick into the most depraved and brutally violent quest a main character can (and probably ever will) embark on! The graphics are a tad weird, as I never liked the whole cell-shaded gimmick, but voice work, music, controls, and replay are all solid. The game is challenging like it's predecessors, speaking of which, buy this sucker now, and you'll likely see a code inside to get ALL 3 ORIGINAL SPLATTERHOUSE GAMES FOR FREE, but the upgrade system helps you along. This is very much like DMC, although virtually no gunplay involved. You have blood (red orbs) that you absorb to advance your skillset, as well as berserk (devil trigger) which boosts your offensiveness and resets your health gauge intantly with it's own Necro Bar (D.T. Gauge) which at level 3 (of course, when else would it "trigger?") allows you to Berserk and basically makes you an unstoppable killing machine a.w.a. boosts your blood (red orb) absorbtion. All in all, this game is a fairly decent play, but will likely go ingored for the most part because it is admittedly no more than a "C-list" title. But if you love Splatterhouse, survival-horror, action-rpg's, Devil May Cry, or all of the above, or a combination...(GASP)...then this one may be worth your while. Thank you, and happy hunting. ;)Read full review
This is a game tailored for people with a taste for obscene amounts of blood, violence, profanity, and sexual perversion. The story is engaging and keeps you wanting to progress to see what will happen. I enjoyed playing the original series when I was younger, and luckily they have included all 3 of the original games as unlockable content. The sound and music are done well, and can be pretty humorous at times. The mask can get annoying with it's constant jabbering, but I think that is his purpose though. He enjoys getting you angry. The graphics are not the greatest I've seen in a PS3 game, but they're not the worst either. The cel shading takes some getting used to, but I think that it matches the genre pretty well. The controls are quick and responsive. Dodging and attacking smoothly will take some getting used to. If you have played Ninja Gaiden it should seem quite similar. The gameplay can get a bit monotonous at times. You fight some enemies to open a door, then you fight some more enemies in the next room to open the next door. It was a nice change of pace having to switch from a 3D controllable view to a side-scrolling 2D view. I think that it adds a whole new aspect to the gameplay. And it really adds to the nostalgia felt for the originals.Read full review
The splatterhouse game for ps3 its a 3d version of the old school arcade game of the past. The clasic sidescroling style its also available in some parts of the game just as a reminder of the old torturing stages of the coin op version. The gore and violence its there as well with tons of red stains fill up your screen and your nightmares. In the control section we have some issues because we were turning from a clasic game to a new 3D version for the new details. The enviromends are cool edited and the atmoshaire its stuning with a superb heavy-death metal soundtrack to replace the older 80s style horror film music! Namco also include the older games to unlock and play like a blast from the past, and i realy liked that one out. Overall,a cool game that will keep you company on your nightmares for a long time!Read full review
