This book helps only if you truly work the steps that Dr. Burns asks of you. It really helps you with your self-esteem and teaches you the modalities you need to aid with distorted thinking. I believe anyone who is struggling with depression, anxiety, or low self-esteem should read this book and do the steps that are required by the author. It has taught me to change so many of my distorted ways of thinking. The book illustrates examples and provides exercises to work through so you can improve yourself and get rid of negative thinking. I highly recommend it.
I purchased this on eBay after I was instructed by my doctor to buy it and take the assessment tests in this soft-cover book for future appointments. I checked the websites for the large book retailers and found it a little expensive for appointments. So, I turned to eBay and found a NEW copy for much less! The book is very helpful and has great insight about improving your self-esteem and working on your self image. This book also has informative tests you take as you read each chapter.
I recommend this book for anyone suffering from low self-esteem, unhappiness, anxiety and or depression. I tried going to therapy and medications (to many side effects on meds.). But this self help book works! The ideas and techniques were easy to apply. I learned to identify the causes of my mood swings and how to prevent them as well as my anxiety!! This book helps me to get threw day by day!!
